Some cutscenes are long (I'm thinking Totorak and Stone Vigil here) I have lost count of times I've seen my party wipe because the tank wouldn't wait fot the person/s watching the cutscenes.

I also think it's pretty rude to go ahead and pull when you can clearly see one person - or more - aren't ready. Telling them they can watch the cutscenes some other time is very selfish; they are doing the story NOW, not some nebulous 'other time'. And what happens if every time they go in the dungeon, they get another impatient tank (it is generally the tank, I don't think I've seen anyone else do this).

You say 'the good people' as if it's a term of abuse. Since these 'good people' are the ones who are generous and unselfish enough to let the sprout watch the cutscenes without impacting their dungeon experience, I think that says a great deal about you, OP

That tank just facepulled while the two were watching CS from the top of the ledge at boss room entrance. Just when the "Darkness" weather ensues, those two suddenly drops dead while still in CS. This wasn't the first time I witnessed it so I just drop "That's what happen when one doesn't wait for CS." in party chat in hoping to see the tank owning their a$$hat behavior. (spoiler: they didn't. it's one of those muted tanks.)

That occasion upsets both of my newcomer friends.
Hey! So we are not alone in this! Two family members were playing together and finally got to Toto. One of them was killed while in cutscene and it was skipped. It caused a glitch too so they could not see the fight after they raised.

As can be imagined, neither were happy about this... I told them you can watch in the inn room after because it is not super obvious unless you visit the inn room.

The impatient tank and healer who caused this who we can presume did not wish to have "their time wasted" did nothing but single pull.. in Toto. They also did not aoe during pulls resulting in aggro issues and family members being attacked by mobs (black mage and monk do respectable aoe damage). Hardly any stones from the healer either from what was told to me.

If you are in hurry at the least commit. Both healer and tank had multiple jobs leveled to 60 plus and were not new.

Other stuffs worth mentioning here is if you are to warn someone about lengthy cutscenes using the chats (like I mentioned in earlier post) do this before the cutscene. Once the cutscene begins it hides the chat box and some become engrossed in the cutscene or do not know about hitting enter to bring the chat window back.

I love Strawman's ever so much.

No, Elladie. I didn't say "good people" in reference to the people waiting. I said "good guys" in reference to the ones who get downright nasty to people for not conforming. The ones that yell obscenities to the puller, threaten bans, call them vulgar names. Those, and I'll say this ironically, good people. The ones who have to attack you to your very core to try and grandstand. And how many times do I have to say, I don't pull. In fact, it was the first sentence of my original post, yet somehow people overlook that. I said, "not speaking as the puller, but here's what I witnessed." Like, holy cow, people. You're all acting as if I'm the devil or something lol.

Half of the people who responded to this thread seem to have not read the original post, at all. They see what they want to see, read what they want to read, and then get angry about it.

This post was about the double standard. How the puller is the bad guy, and not these people getting nasty. I NEVER stated that anyone who waits is awful. I never stated that waiting is inherently wrong. I've said that the mentality of "if you pull during cutscene, I'll watch you die" is reportable. Never said I would report it, just that that is against ToS. But yes people, just keep Strawman-ing this post to the heavens.

I think your accusations, your twisting of words to turn me into a villain, says a lot about you, as well as everyone else who has done so in the past 30 pages.

I'm not here attacking anyone's character. I'm not here trying to convince anyone of anything. I'm stating my opinions. They differ from yours. Cool. Yet I have responses of people trying to villainize me, attack me, accuse me of trolling and trying to create an "echo chamber" to give my opinion some sort of validation. My opinions don't need any validation. And because of that opinion of mine, people are also making unfounded, and some even downright rude, assumptions about me.

I don't have to agree with you. And no one has the right to attack me because I don't.

The best is when tank starts pulling or keeps pulling when healer is in a cutscene or dead and causes the whole party to wipe because of it.

They do so because they are able to. Many of these tanks are often playing poorly though which causes much confusion.

It reminds me of another story involving friends! Boy does our luck seem bad or something..

There was a tank in Tam-Tara who only did small pulls and would keep moving the pack (WoW style chain pulling). Both friends were on dragoon and because they kept moving the mobs around could not keep attacking without sprint. For any who do not know this, attacking moving enemies as melee in FF14 can be feist inducing due to server tick rate. The mobs are next to you on your screen but are actually not according to the server. To elaborate, no they were not "wall pulling". They would engage one group, wait for one mob to die then start another pull and repeat.

She asked them to wait until one group is dead before moving them because it was preventing her from attacking. The tank responds with "No time" ... They then engaged the mind flayer while two others were watching the cutscene.

After reading this I am beginning to see alignment between group that is okay with ejecting sprouts from cutscenes and downright terrible gameplay. Here I thought I was the "toxic" one who only wishes for "speedruns". Now I am thinking perhaps it is more of an undiagnosed narcissism problem.

Another bit more directed towards original post and I am not saying it is acceptable to spew vitriol at others buuuuuut. Imagine being that sprout enjoying the story and going into a dungeon for the first time. You are learning how to play but your team is full of donkeys, the run is frustrating because the tank cannot maintain aggro and you keep being nearly killed. Ooooorrrr they are moving mobs around so you cannot attack and doing other disruptive things. You finally make it through and are presented with a neat cutscene when the words "Battle has commenced, you will be locked out of the fight in fifteen seconds" pops up in the center of your cutscene.

Your first thought is not probably going to be "Gee golly after this abysmal experience I sure am glad my team left me here to start the fight without me! I am having soooo much of the fun right now! This game is great!"

You may be experiencing frustration towards your team and that miiiight be the tipping point. You should not insult the person but there is understanding when it occurs especially if the offending player was making the run more difficult on top of being impatient. If this then occurs in every dungeon you do following, you may not be so kind the next fifteen times.

New players are attempting to enjoy the game too.. getting yeeted out of cutscenes or spawned into the wrong place during alliance raids that are already pretty confusing for them is not conducive to having fun. Then comes the "4 on pad!" "No one on pads again kek w" "Alliance X get on the damn pad". Well they might you see but two thirds of the alliance was telewarped into Zone 1 because someone pulled early soooo..

Haha yeah, last time I was doing the 3rd Nier Raid I started the fight with a countdown but I had the wrong chat open so didn't see people saying we had newcomers, I'm just too used to looking at my own party before pulling. Anyway, I felt bad but I already pulled can't do anything about it anymore, so I noticed I wasn't getting healed and one of my healers was constantly hugging the floor. I managed to MT it as a DRK till 5% before I finally died and here comes mister Toxic (yup that's part of his name, not all too shocking) using the brooming emote on my corpse, actively griefing me instead of talking to me.

    Easiest report of my life.

Ugh, jeez, I remind people in alliance chat every single time that we can wipe if they early pull there and why and they still do it. Not the new folks. It's always an impatient vet. Gotten the giants I don't know how many times.

But maybe we need that instead of unskippable cutscenes. Someone pulls before everyone is in the arena and another mob spawns and wipes the floor with them. Make it untargetable and able to one-shot everyone in there. People definitely don't early pull a second time after we wipe to the giants in LotA so could be time for some tough love in the rest of the game since people can't be polite on their own.

A lot of people in this thread are pretty much saying "SE, I can't be trusted to be nice to sprouts on my own. Please give me no choice". And I can't say I would blame SE if they listened.

The number of times this is most true is umm, staggering.

What should happen when inspecting party members; "Ohhh, this player has most jobs at level 80. They will know what they are doing and might even help me! They went through the story too so they will want me to enjoy it like they have! Yay!"

What actually occurs when inspecting party members now; "Ugh.. another player with mostly level 80 jobs. This is going to be a long slog of run and I should be prepared. They are probably going to be rude too especially if I dare give advice."

90 percent of the time we are correct.. It is pleasant surprise when we are not.

More story time! My partners pops and their partner were doing their Toto run. The tank was not aoeing, getting lost, running into walls and sometimes not even attacking. Right clicking them reveals, dun dun dun six jobs at level 80 and a bunch at 70 ish. They also engaged the final boss without waiting..

Two other family members queue into Sastasha Hard with a sprout tank, only Warrior leveled to 50 and nothing else. This little lala proceeds to wall pull the entire dungeon and it was one of their fastest runs yet.. especially with dual mechanist aoe spam. This player waited too if anyone fell behind for any reason.

The run tends to go faster if half of the party is not feisty so if they truly wish to "not have time wasted" perhaps they should be playing better no? Maybe not botch up the Atmos fight so we wipe? Bueller?

It's called common decency. I would imagine your parents once taught you about it. There is nothing inherently wrong with pulling while someone else is in a cutscene, I don't mind personally, it'll just make me go 'okie dokie, if you don't need my help, fine by me'. It's all about manners, good form.
