Commendation rewards are something they should keep going in general.

I just find it odd that there are people who even *care* about commendations at all. They are not much more than a pat on the back for helping someone out or something. There doesn't need to be anything else there - knowing you helped someone else have a good time should be enough.
0w0 what are you doing here?
Nobody even brought up parses though?Ok so, imho, using the DF for your daily roulettes helps the community a lot more than having an orange parse. Commendations are Df exclusive rewards. Having a lot of them doesn't mean you're a good player, of course, but it means you use the DF quite often, helping the community as a whole with queue times etc...
And this is what you're supposed to be as a mentor. Someone who's there to help the community. The mentor roulette is the perfect example of this.
So yea, getting "arbitrary commendations" helps the community more than being a fflog god who never touch the DF.
I swear some of y'all be looking for a reason to go "fflogs bad lol".
I stopped reading when these 2 paragraphs contradict each other. But please do not think I've come here to boast, quite the contrary.

While I have many mounts, minions, glams, and titles to flaunt proudly at the average gawking sprout standing in the Quarrymill, the one thing I am most proud of is a thing of which no one can see, and a reward is nonexistent.
You not boasting then you boast. Lol
You do know people give commendations for being a friend/FC mate that might have qued separately from you, or someone from the same server, had a glamor they liked, a name they liked, the person who died the least, or the person who was there last right? That those reasons are more likely to be the reason behind a person getting a commendation than being helpful. Besides that they were a tank or healer. Where either roll has to be absolutely the worst for a run to not get a commendation. There is a whole section of the player base who are very helpful that touch the DF, but almost never solo que or even partial que.Ok so, imho, using the DF for your daily roulettes helps the community a lot more than having an orange parse. But... honestly, who cares whether they get a commendation? If other people who aren't helpful get one, what does it matter? If someone gets one for being helpful, great! If they get one because they played tank, great! It's all pretty inconsequential. You do know people give commendations for being a friend/FC mate that might have qued separately from you, or someone from the same server, had a glamor they liked, a name they liked, the person who died the least, or the person who was there last right? Would it be nice if there was something you'd get past the 3k mark for commendations? Sure, but I also know that wouldn't really help with the problem we have with those that just wear it because it looks cool crowd. So, even though my over 5k in commendations butt would love a test or a big golden star sticker that shouts look at me I solo que more often than not I also know that there's a good chance that it won't improve the quality of mentors. Or that just because I passed or have whatever token means that anyone has to listen to me. I mean a lot of people already don't so it'd be nothing new. I also am fairly sure that if a new shiny thing was added for getting something at 5k or 10 or whatever the Devs chose to make the new goal post at it would just increase the quantity of mentors due to the "cooolness".
I was asking the other person who feels that commendations are a sign that a person was helping the community if they knew that most people regardless of if they were actually being helpful or not will hand them out sometimes just on a whim. That just because someone has the amount needed in order to become a mentor doesn't mean they were doing anything that could be seen as helpful outside of queing up for something. Part of this whole thread is about how more commendations somehow must equate to being a good mentor. According to the OP that is. Along with the point that they should get something for the high amount of commendations they have. While the person I responded to seems to think getting those commendations somehow equate to having been helpful to the community only. Instead of more likely being due to say pulling off a cool Luca from Chrono Trigger glamor or whatever.
The rewards are commendations themselves. I am a mentor but I hide my crown. I hide my crown to show that all players can have knowledge of the game and help people.
Should they add more rewards for commendations. No. 3000 is enough. If anything they should look at other reward avenues.
Commendations don't really mean anything.
I usually get a few comms just for tanking or healing without really doing anything I think is exceptional. The dungeons required for the resistance weapons were one of my biggest sources of comms, and I don't think I did anything special in there. I just queued in as tank and pulled everything.
I even get comms from the praetorium just for being a naked roe during cutscenes, not because of anything I actually do!
Before I knew it, I qualified as mentor despite only having played the game for a few months. I was still a sprout myself just a couple of months ago, so I'm not sure I'd even be able to answer anything other than the most basic of questions. I haven't even tried out any maps or the fashion thing in the gold saucer!
