The crown should be removed entirely, for that matter.
These are my thoughts as well. If they need to have an icon of some sort, make it something basic like it was in XI -

Going with a crown was a horrible idea as too many people wear it just because they think it looks cool and have no desire to actually help people. Rewards were an even worse idea IMO as you add in people who are only after the shiny items and now they have to 'suffer' the mentor roulette. Doesn't make for a good combination.

There will always be people who like to actually help people because that's what they do - and they'll do it without a pompous icon or having rewards dangled in their face.

Why should you get a battle mentor tag if you don't use the DF and only play with friends? Also, a crown doesn't mean anything in PF. Like, who cares?

Mentor is about knowing the game, not getting arbitrary commendations.

Let's just cap the Comms at 3000 and after that people can't give you more comms.
Your name will be grayed out and people can't select it.
That way others than the Tanks and Healers can have a chance to get some comms.

You want MORE? Commendations are just there to say good job! you don't deserve anything more for it.

This honestly. Many people think that mentor somehow means and is required to be a top performing player when all it really means that they have enough experience to help new people with their questions about the game mechanics.

Or they could just do something like this instead.

Exactly most of the questions I am asked as a mentor have to do with getting the chocobo, doing something with the UI, mapping the controller, basic tanking questtions like using cooldowns, getting jobs, NOTHING is ever super in-depth about like rotations and what not, because sprouts are low lvl lol

Ok so, imho, using the DF for your daily roulettes helps the community a lot more than having an orange parse. Commendations are Df exclusive rewards. Having a lot of them doesn't mean you're a good player, of course, but it means you use the DF quite often, helping the community as a whole with queue times etc...
And this is what you're supposed to be as a mentor. Someone who's there to help the community. The mentor roulette is the perfect example of this.
So yea, getting "arbitrary commendations" helps the community more than being a fflog god who never touch the DF.
