While they're at it, can they switch ACN's icon with AST's?
ACN's looks like a starglobe while AST's looks like a book (I know it's suppose to be cards but it looks like a book).
For comparison"

Then perhaps people so deeply afflicted should stop playing the game, rather than expecting the game to cater to their every idiosyncrasy."It doesn't affect me personally, therefor it is objectively not an issue. Everybody else is being dumb, because only MY opinion matters."
Like, I have what I would call a phobia of deep waters, but I can deal with some things and not with others (the Tempest gets me only a little spooked, but I can barely watch a video of Subnautica). EDIT: But I don't expect all people to react the way I do.
And yet, those items are from a game no longer playable.I mean, if we want to be petty I believe certain posters have personally shot down requests for 1.0 items to be unlocked and made available to everybody because they themselves do not want to lose their feeling of exclusivity. That is despite the fact that there's legitimate disorders based around a fear of missing out.
I'd assume such a stance from those same individuals is proof enough that not every single request needs to be given the time of day or supported. Furthermore, it grows increasingly tiresome when requests with far more popularity and staying power behind them are ignored only for recent complaints about very minor issues are actively embraced and paraded around as 'progress'.
I'm not one to beat around the bush, so I won't. As far as I'm concerned the Final Fantasy XIV community has a real issue with a vocal minority of its population glorifying minute issues, making them seem like a huge deal and showing contempt for those who would prefer niche requests be shelved instead of constantly being given time and attention.
You don't see me asking for pvp mounts and gearsets do you?
Those have far more impact on players of the current game and fomo than items from a dead game they never played.
I am aware of such hypocrisy in my own posts, I just find it funny others don't seem to be.
This thread is the very definition of taking a molehill and turning it into a mountain.
You guys are simply ridiculous.
for me, I have no feelings on the change one way or the other.
Its for a class, not yet released, not yet playable, which some people had issues with due to something they have no control over. I believe it was a fair change to do and take little away from an icon since I rarely focus on those icons when playing.
Icons are blue, green or reddish, tells me what they are supposed to be doing, thats about it. in the middle of a run I am hardly going to be "OH NO!!! the filled in holes bother me since I never asked for it"
chances are, in the interests of transparency they said something, if they had SAID NOTHING... no one would have noticed or complained.
Or the developers can make a minor adjustment to unreleased, in-development content to alleviate a little bit of discomfort for a handful of people because showing empathy to other people is not a zero-sum game.
I have this phobia and the icon did nothing to me. I actually much prefer the old one to the new one. Now the one place that does trigger the phobia is Saint Mocianne's Arboretum. On top of my intense phobia of bees. Hell, I can't even see bees in the overworld without that intense fear hitting me. I'm not going to ask for these things to be removed though because that's just silly to me.

I don't consider it hypocrisy so much as personal preference. Nobody is obligated to care for or cater to absolutely every last little thing in existence, after all.
Some people like the change, some do not and others are indifferent. I highly doubt that anyone is losing sleep over it but at the same time it's a real shame that the game sees fit to further stifle itself. No doubt extra care will not be taken to avoid any designs with holes in them which could very well lead to scrapped design concepts for future glamour, environments and so on. Fantasy settings are becoming rather sterile as a consequence.
True. I think the point of contention that people have taken was that SE announced this change specifically to cater to an (incredible) minority of people (who suffer from a disorder-that-isn't), and the resultant concern that, once you open the door to these kinds of demands, there's potentially no end to the 'minority groups' of one sort of another who might field complaints (some of which may be far more legitimate than this).for me, I have no feelings on the change one way or the other.

Much like societies in the real world, in order to have Eorzea, people need to set aside their obsession with their special and unique identity (and its resultant demands on everyone else to yield before it) and compromise. We cannot have a game if it is needled to death by pearl-clutching crusaders.
Like the people getting a bit upset about a job icon receiving a minor revision to remove some holes?I'm not one to beat around the bush, so I won't. I'd understand if it was nearly anything else, but it's four lines on a green background that represent one of the games classes, there is no hidden meaning or depth or anything to it. It's literally just an icon.
I'm pretty sure I have arachnophobia, and I flinch every time something that sounds like a wasp or bee flies by my head (or hear it) but I don't ask for their removal either, but I also won't fault people for making such requests.I have this phobia and the icon did nothing to me. I actually much prefer the old one to the new one. Now the one place that does trigger the phobia is Saint Mocianne's Arboretum. On top of my intense phobia of bees. The way people have reacted to this is just simply ridiculous to me. It's an icon for an unreleased job, not your bunny Boi glamour items or the tempest zone, etc.
The slippery slope is called a fallacy because it is, in fact, a fallacy....
