The New Sage Icon, Thoughts?

So, they just announced a redesign of the Sage Icon, as seen in this post here,

Sage Icon Changes

What are peoples thoughts. I can see the reason for the change but feel they could of went with a better alternative. Like why not mimic the wing shape the make along the players back. I'm sure the new icon will grow on us, similar to how Gunbreaker's did, but what do people think?

The original didn't trigger any trypophobia in me, but if it was doing in others then I don't mind the change. I don't have particularly strong feelings about either the old or the new design.

Fun fact, trypophobia isn't universally recognized as a phobia because it elicits a disgust response rather than a fear response, and as a result doesn't tend to impair judgement in the same way that being terrified generally would.

I like the new Icon better so I don't really care that much.
But If we start to remove everything that could trigger a Phobia in the game like "Darkness, Spiders, etc" we soon will have Teletubbys Online.... but I bet someone out there would be afraid of that too.

I really really don't like the new icon, it looks silly to be honest. But i also didn't lliked the other version so yeah...it's kinda the same just a tiny bit worse.

To me it looks like 3 magic wands from kirby and a hand holding the middle one...

I don't rly have any phobia about that altho I do find it disgusting ( especially when people have photoshopped things to trigger it on purpose ).
This honestly didn't occur to me at all with the Sage icon tho.

I don't really have an opinion on this since it's such a minor thing but I mean there are so many phobias in the world you can't rly stay away from them all.
Maybe I am wrong but I have such a hard time believing the old icon triggered it.
If that triggered it then aren't there so many other countless things in the game that would?
The game would be downright unplayable?

I honestly think that most people find it disgusting, I suppose that people with Trypophobia just find it disgusting much easier.
Or at least most people find more deliberate and extreme cases of it disgusting I think.

I would prefer this version. Keep the symmetrical style, but fill the holes (because the holes were actually the problem).

Phobias aside I think both the Reaper and the old Sage icon are a bit too busy and over-designed, the new Sage icon does looks better.

I'm not a fan of the reasoning behind the change. It encourages more people to petition to remove things based on rather thin reasoning. There's plenty of things I dislike or feel disgust towards that I tolerate because I do not believe that every last little thing needs to be catered to me, specifically.

For example, I dislike the sight and texture of slugs and snails but I'm not going to ask for them to be removed from the game.

I'm getting worried about Endwalker. It's meant to the finale of the game's main established story arcs and a second coming of the apocalypse. Are we going to reach a point where barely anything can be 'upsetting'?

Just the scythe would have looked better, what is the circle even supposed to be? The hat? Does the hat need to be in the job icon?

I don't feel particularly strongly about it and I don't hate it, I just prefer simpler designs for the job icons.
