That's a good way of putting it, especially since the lodestone is saying he looks like one of the good ones.

Thats real strange, maybe its an issue with the world server you chose. I play on EU Chaos and had in all my years i played this game something like this not even once and i never heard for any other guys i spoke to during that time or fc of something like that. Maybe its to the impact of new players since HW is free that some of the new acting strange.
With DF, you're still going to get players from whatever server within the DC, no?Thats real strange, maybe its an issue with the world server you chose. Honestly, the hours of play, based on that player population, may be the more impactful factor. I've noticed people being a lot more snappish around the hours that, say, the average person from that region would have just got home from (over)work. Similarly, in the 2-5 AM (EST to PST) crowd here in NA, you tend to get people more likely to give advice, but slower to kick, since time tends to be less of an issue.*
* (Exceptions, of course, when dungeon, raid, or trial content becomes wrapped up in relic grind content, as with the HW relics.)

In WoW that's more common than not to be honest :3.My limited experience shows that if anyone is going to be unforgiving, it's against tanks. As a healer my favourite dungeon run was with a learning tank and a good attitude but when I first did a trial a year ago I attempted tank because paladin appealed to me.
My first dungeon I kept threat and I think I was easy to keep alive but I didn't know the route. I can't remember the insult completely but it was something like I needed to go back in time and kill my parents before I could be born and waste their time. At that time I decided I may as well keep playing wow and only recently I gave this place another shot.

I usually encounter sprouts when I'm doing duty roulette or random dungeon. What SirCadogan, in his initial post, says horrifies me. How can someone just say "Git gud or no heal" ? Really ?
When someone don't know what they are doing OR think they are doing good but it's the opposite, I try to explain to that person how to make things better for them. That way, new player can "Git gud" cause we help them and not tossing them away like trash, if they listen of course.
This kind of behavior towards new player is unacceptable

Report them. SE won't tolerate that.
That's unfortunate. I hope that player feels better.
Report them. SE won't tolerate that.Get a new group, healer won’t heal me because I’m not doing any AOE…. I don’t have an AOE yet. I inform said healer of this fact and get a tell from the healer cussing me out and demanding I learn to play and use AOE….
Start a boss fight, no heals are going out. (Won’t heal the tank not that this tank needed heals) Healer says "get good or no heals"
About this time adds pop, we switch to adds but the tank won’t pick them up, and says "you pull it you tank it" we wipe and both tank and healer leave calling us noobs.
Absolutely not. You just got really unlucky. I've never once encountered this kind of toxicity in this game. I've seen plenty of players act that way in WoW, but never here.
Absolutely not. Your experience is not representative of the typical FFXIV player's.
Seriously, you can report behavior like that. Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvQvYYkFiQI&t=26s
I find it a bit odd that the OP is asking if this is normal behavior based off of 2 runs? While unfortunate you had some bad luck, I'm sure you've ran more then 2 runs to realize it's not the norm? I almost feel this is troll post because who takes to the forums after a few bad runs?
Regardless, as you can see from all the helpful people here, that no this is not the norm in most cases. I've ran a good amount of runs, and many many with some pretty new tanks (A few in which I've offered "respectful" advice and they where happy to hear it). Everyone has been nice. I'm sure I'll run into a few bad seeds along the way, but it is what it is. Like others have said in this thread, if they grief or verbally attack others, report them. These people will never change, although they might think twice about harassing others.
This kind of thing is rare, but when you do run into a jerk it's almost always a Healer.
Healing is the most significant role in this game, and as such it tends to attract the most sanctimonious players.

It probably just feels that way because unlike tanking and DPS, healing is a class that forces you to pay attention to what all the other players are doing at all times. Unless something goes horribly wrong, most DPS and tanks are going to be blissfully unaware of anything except for the boss and the mechanics. A case in point is a hilarious reddit meme based off of Asmongold's first Aurum Vale run where he's proudly proclaiming, "Easiest dungeon of my life!!!" near the end of the Locksmith fight while tanking with five stacks of Gold Lung. Meanwhile, the healer in the meme is portrayed stressing over his computer sweating bullets in his attempt to keep him alive. While the healer was hilariously portrayed in the meme, the event it's based on really did occur. Asmongold really cleared that fight with five stacks of Gold Lung and no idea as to how hard it was on the healer to keep him up through that. He literally shouted, "Easiest dungeon of my life!" several times that fight.
