What’s up with players in dungeons.

Was running the MSQ doing one of the dungeon quests….

Get a group and the healer won’t heal anyone not even the tank. Said something about only healing those who play correctly.

The tank gets zero heals, healer says "LTT“ and leaves.

Tank admits to being knew to the roll, apologizes for not being good and leaves.

Being new to the game and coming from wow, waiting on heals and tank isn’t going to go well. I leave do some random stuff and decide to retry.

Get a new group, healer won’t heal me because I’m not doing any AOE…. I don’t have an AOE yet. I inform said healer of this fact and get a tell from the healer cussing me out and demanding I learn to play and use AOE….

Start a boss fight, no heals are going out. (Won’t heal the tank not that this tank needed heals) Healer says "get good or no heals"
About this time adds pop, we switch to adds but the tank won’t pick them up, and says "you pull it you tank it" we wipe and both tank and healer leave calling us noobs.

Is this normal behavior in dungeons? Should I just not do the dungeon quests until I get to max level? Can these quests be soloed like in other games once you reach high enough level or will the game sync me to the quest level?

Is this like wow where you’re better off just doing everything solo or with your guild/ FC and not use the duty finder?

This is not normal no. You have some really bad luck. Right now we have some weird people who think that in a pug group. A standard needs to be set on how to play. That this game has a leeching problem because the content takes longer to do.

The best thing to do is when they act like this, to report them. The rules get enforced as that is consider harassing and grief. So if they get in trouble enough, they will learn. It is just people turn a blind eye to these players and they keep acting like this because of it.

Sorry you had some bad groups, but as I said it is not the normal.

    apologies on... the healers.
seriously never seen that before and as a healer main, I dont understand the mindset

I dont care how you play, my job is to do my job, which is keep people off the floor. like I said, never seen that in all the runs I have made. I have had combat healers, but they dont comment on other peoples play style, they are just there to mostly dps, which if thats how they play thats how they play. some heal only when tanks or dps are down to 25%, again, if they are comfy that way, whatever.

I would not say thats normal by any stretch
DF will always get you a random mix. some healers obviously have a problem with that, but we are hardly all the same and that... rude

I wouldn't say it's normal, no, but it does happen. It's the internet. Either way they were jerks and you probably didn't deserve that. They aren't worth your time talking and thinking about. I'd shrug it off and move on. Most everyone else isn't like that. For me, I've only really seen one incident of toxic behavior in the past month or so, and that was last night in DR. My co tank was lagging and decided they would rather stay dead on the final boss rather than eat the mettle loss. If they weren't lvl 25 I would understand, but they should have been doing their part, however small it might have been. The dps was super low overall and it took about an hour to clear. This resulted in one of my healers basically calling them a piece of crap and the other saying "yw for the carry". Toxicity breeds toxicity I suppose, but that's the only encounter I've seen recently.

    Definitely not normal.

But I would counter their attitude with the statement that just because someone else isn't playing their job "right" doesn't mean you should also not do yours. The two healers definitely are people you should report as this is the kind of behaviour that the developers of the game are definitely not okay with, and there's a good chance they will be put into jail by the game's moderators so that they can address the behavior.

OP, those are exactly the kinds of folks that need to be reported to the GMs for "harassment". They absolutely should not be forcing gameplay opinions like that on others during standard group play in dungeons.

To answer your question, what you had happen isn't normal, at least as far as I've experienced. Most of the time folks just roll through the content and are quiet for the most part, otherwise they just play their roles. Every once in a while I see someone that gets pushy, but I've never seen anyone go so far as to purposely avoid playing the game because they felt others should be playing in a different manner. However, I also play a lot later at night so I don't know if it's because I'm just seeing a different crowd altogether.

I'm really sorry you hit experiences like that so quickly in succession, normally this game and the community is really, really nice. It's incredibly unfortunate that there's folks out there like that actively determined to ruin others' game experience like that. >_<

I agree, you are doing a MSQ there is no reason to act that way.

I started playing FFXIV again after quitting in 2014 about 2 weeks ago and while that's not a very long time span, I've done my fair share of dungeons and have not once encountered anything close to the unfortunate situation being described above. I don't think this is representative of the FFXIV community so no, I don't believe this to be normal or standard practice.

I think what's happening is the large influx of players coming to FFXIV recently brought its share of trolls just following the trend and messing about before crawling back to whatever hole they came out of. I doubt many of them will stick around so as you level and progress through your MSQ, you'll find yourself interacting more and more with the actual FFXIV community, which has been nothing short of lovely so far.

Just keep at it and ignore the angry muppets that pollute the duty finder at lower levels.

It's not normal and absolutely is reportable as well. I had a similar healer the other day during Titania NM who got mad at the tanks for daring to be new and overwhelmed. Literally stopped healing and told us to kick them. Which we couldn't because not enough time had even passed to do so. We did one pull and they literally threw their staff down and started throwing a tantrum. Refused to heal, DPS, move, the whole works and took to being toxic in chat to the newbie tanks instead. Sadly they got their kick after a second pull because it took until the third pull for the tanks to actually get what they needed to do but more than a few of use reported them for their actions. Hilariously enough we ended up with a new healer who out DPS'd them by a country mile and the run went much, much smoother.

Unfortunately you can't skip dungeons and trials as you progress along the MSQ. This is a big difference from WoW, and I found it a bit jarring too when I recently picked up FFXIV after many years playing the other game. But I've now become used to it and actually like it a lot. It forces me to learn how to play better, so that I can hold up my share of the duty without unduly penalizing the team, and better yet, to be so good as to get commendations from my team mates when we're done with the last boss.

Ever since I started with the game - very recently, only since April of this year - I've had nothing but good experiences in Duty Finder, playing as a Paladin tank, up to Lvl 80 now. And I've *never* played a tank, since 2004 when I started with WoW at their release. So I must had done well enough, with a few commendations from others along the way. But recently I've noticed a couple of times when dungeon light parties, full parties, and 24 strong raids have had a few jerks, who like to chide, demean, or threaten to kick other players they deemed not up to their roles' task. They're in the minority, however, and I ascribe this to the recent massive influx of new players from other MMOs. I'm sure a lot of good people recently subscribed, but also a lot toxic riff-raff as well.

Don't let the toxicity bother you, just move on and enjoy yourself. It's only a game after all. The point is to keep having fun. :-)

PS: Just found this thread, it illustrates what you can do to report and get rid of griefers in this game:
