I don't understand this thinking. Queues are so short as to be barely noticeable outside of server crashes or streamers logging on. Meanwhile, that guy dancing adds a lot to the community. Would it bother you less if he just did solo dungeons over and over so he was "moving"? Who cares if dancing is the entire game to that guy. I think being able to always see the same person in the same location doing the same thing is far more beneficial to the game's health than freeing up a spot on the server.

There's a viera usually dressed like a pink fox that's always dancing or sweeping in the Ul'dah tunnel on Midgard, and seeing her makes the server feel like a real place with a real community. She was one of the first things I saw when I came back to the game and seeing her there when I port in is always comforting. It makes me want to join in.

"My queues are short, it doesn't matter" is the thinking you people always have. Meanwhile some of us on Aether deal with the 1000s due to streamer popularity. Get over yourself.

We have one of those on Faerie too... except I think ours is doing the Manderville Mambo? I don't know, I don't really care to collect or learn which dance is which.

Kinda sounds like a personal problem lol. This is why I don't choose streamer servers, cus you know I like being able to log in within 5min xD.

I also happen to agree, afk bards playing music etc brings alot to the server. Can't tell you how many times I ported to Limsa and hear a sweet song being played by a bard. Its awesome and I'll miss it.

It's not a personal problem. In-fact Asmon wanted to create on Midgardsormr to join Rich but it closed as soon as he selected. I believe he tried Sargatanas next and that closed, and ended up on Cactuar.

Esfand created on Malboro, and Maximillan Dood is on Behemoth. There is no escape on Primal and Crystal either.

The bards performing are putting in inputs and therefor might not get logged out by the system.

I don't really feel like some random person standing somewhere dancing in a silly glamour adds anything of note to the community that would outweight someone else being able to log into the game and particulpate.

Keep in mind too that apparantly only the NA datacenters got the recent infrastructure upgrade so queue times are probably worse in other region s as well because they can't have as many concurrent logged in players.

It can also vary by server, datacenter, and time of day you log in as well. Just because you don't personally have a problem logging in doesn't mean it's not an issue. If it's gotten enough attention that yoshi p put out a post apologizing for it, I'm going to err on the side of saying it's negatively affecting a good number of people.

I run into that sometimes. I'm doing something else but logged into the game using my retainers to stock up on mats, and since those ventures are an hour, I would check in roughly once an hour. Makes me wish the timer was a little longer, to account for things like waiting for retainer ventures or when your group takes a break for food or one person has to go tend to the kids, etc. There are many reasons someone could be idle 30 minutes and then return to high activity.

I mean, really, if you are actually, and actively, playing the game, is there any situation where you can go 30 minutes without gaining at least *some* experience from one of the game modes? I'm sure that players will find a way around that as well, but it seems a better way to reduce the people who are afk since any experience-derived activity requires some kind of input from the player. Just my opinion.
Doing anything on a level 80 job won't give you exp, crafting and gathering being the most obvious activities people spend hours doing at level 80.

A 40+ minute queue just so everyone can ignore afk dancers in cities doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Especially if someone DC's in a dungeon or something.

YoshiP evidently disagrees. He said in his letter to players that queue times are reaching up to 20 minutes on NA worlds and 40 minutes on EU worlds during peak hours.

    To him, that's not acceptable.

How does someone AFK make a community feel like a real community as opposed to the players who are actually running around doing things with others?
