Well one problem it fixes is that it let's free trial players play the game.. if there is a queue to login the game they can't even get it.. the game tells them to wait till the queue is over and try againI don't understand this thinking. Queues are so short as to be barely noticeable outside of server crashes or streamers logging on. Meanwhile, that guy dancing adds a lot to the community. Would it bother you less if he just did solo dungeons over and over so he was "moving"? Who cares if dancing is the entire game to that guy. I think being able to always see the same person in the same location doing the same thing is far more beneficial to the game's health than freeing up a spot on the server.
There's a viera usually dressed like a pink fox that's always dancing or sweeping in the Ul'dah tunnel on Midgard, and seeing her makes the server feel like a real place with a real community. She was one of the first things I saw when I came back to the game and seeing her there when I port in is always comforting. It makes me want to join in.

Not to mention full servers means people can't create toons on the server during peak times. Imagine not being able to play with your friends in same FC, or even worse same data center. A lot of these naysayers only care about themselves and Limsa Thots taking up bandwidth that is needed for players actually wanting to play.

Yes, which is why I'm perfectly fine with it, even if I personally find it annoying.
I just find it funny someone called Nexus obnoxious for dancing lol

We have one of those on Faerie too... except I think ours is doing the Manderville Mambo? I don't know, I don't really care to collect or learn which dance is which.Good. We have an obnoxious individual on Balmung who literally does the vanu vanu dance 24 hours a day - I have come to believe that that *is* that game for this person. Nobody doing that should be given priority over people who are actually planning to, you know, move while logged on.

Imagine literally calling that guy obnoxious when he's honestly one of the nicest people I've ever met on this server.Good. Imagine literally hating fun.
It's all fun and games until you get a certain wasted vanu-vanu dancer into your discord call and he starts hitting on your male FC mate who he's convinced is a woman, all the while his mother yells in the background.
true story xD
That said he does actually play the game, much more than most serial AFKers that I know of.
This all seems pointless since there are - apparently - so many ways to circumvent the timer. What they need to do is to log out anyone who hasn't gained any experience - of any form - in a given time period. I mean, really, if you are actually, and actively, playing the game, is there any situation where you can go 30 minutes without gaining at least *some* experience from one of the game modes? I'm sure that players will find a way around that as well, but it seems a better way to reduce the people who are afk since any experience-derived activity requires some kind of input from the player. Just my opinion.
I think they should close the loopholes so that if your character is inactive for 30 minutes you get the boot, even if you're interacting with an npc or crafting or w/e.This all seems pointless since there are - apparently - so many ways to circumvent the timer. But there are ways in which you might not be getting exp, such as roleplaying. I think all they need to do is just close the loopholes people use to get around not doing anything for a half hour and there you go.
Max level players don't get experience. So I guess nobody who is level 80 should play the game by your metric? This all seems pointless since there are - apparently - so many ways to circumvent the timer. I run into that sometimes. I'm doing something else but logged into the game using my retainers to stock up on mats, and since those ventures are an hour, I would check in roughly once an hour. Makes me wish the timer was a little longer, to account for things like waiting for retainer ventures or when your group takes a break for food or one person has to go tend to the kids, etc. There are many reasons someone could be idle 30 minutes and then return to high activity.
