I don't understand this thinking. Queues are so short as to be barely noticeable outside of server crashes or streamers logging on. Meanwhile, that guy dancing adds a lot to the community. Would it bother you less if he just did solo dungeons over and over so he was "moving"? Who cares if dancing is the entire game to that guy. I think being able to always see the same person in the same location doing the same thing is far more beneficial to the game's health than freeing up a spot on the server.

There's a viera usually dressed like a pink fox that's always dancing or sweeping in the Ul'dah tunnel on Midgard, and seeing her makes the server feel like a real place with a real community. She was one of the first things I saw when I came back to the game and seeing her there when I port in is always comforting. It makes me want to join in.

"My queues are short, it doesn't matter" is the thinking you people always have. Meanwhile some of us on Aether deal with the 1000s due to streamer popularity. Get over yourself.

Kinda sounds like a personal problem lol. This is why I don't choose streamer servers, cus you know I like being able to log in within 5min xD.

I also happen to agree, afk bards playing music etc brings alot to the server. Can't tell you how many times I ported to Limsa and hear a sweet song being played by a bard. Its awesome and I'll miss it.

It's not a personal problem. In-fact Asmon wanted to create on Midgardsormr to join Rich but it closed as soon as he selected. I believe he tried Sargatanas next and that closed, and ended up on Cactuar.

Esfand created on Malboro, and Maximillan Dood is on Behemoth. There is no escape on Primal and Crystal either.

I mean, really, if you are actually, and actively, playing the game, is there any situation where you can go 30 minutes without gaining at least *some* experience from one of the game modes? I'm sure that players will find a way around that as well, but it seems a better way to reduce the people who are afk since any experience-derived activity requires some kind of input from the player. Just my opinion.
Doing anything on a level 80 job won't give you exp, crafting and gathering being the most obvious activities people spend hours doing at level 80.

A 40+ minute queue just so everyone can ignore afk dancers in cities doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Especially if someone DC's in a dungeon or something.

YoshiP evidently disagrees. He said in his letter to players that queue times are reaching up to 20 minutes on NA worlds and 40 minutes on EU worlds during peak hours.

    To him, that's not acceptable.

How does someone AFK make a community feel like a real community as opposed to the players who are actually running around doing things with others?

The dude always sleeping near the entrance to the markets is as much a part of Limsa for me as the benches and trees.
He means as much as any rando I never interact with, possibly more because all the others I only see once and never again, also because unlike the other randos I actually notice him.

We have one on my server. They're called Mint Dew. We suspect they have two accounts where the play on one and dance on another because there is a Mint Dew`. And it's like a game looking for what glam they will have and dance they will use. People often join in. There's something comforting and familiar about seeing good old Mint Dew dancing away.

That connects us a lot more than being off in our own little dungeon instances or in our linkshells and FCs.

Well one problem it fixes is that it let's free trial players play the game.. if there is a queue to login the game they can't even get it.. the game tells them to wait till the queue is over and try again

Not to mention full servers means people can't create toons on the server during peak times. Imagine not being able to play with your friends in same FC, or even worse same data center. A lot of these naysayers only care about themselves and Limsa Thots taking up bandwidth that is needed for players actually wanting to play.
