dark knight is my favorite because tbn, but according to what you want, gunbreaker (except that dark knight opener. so busy!)

I am enjoying DRK and PLD the most right now, though OP if part of your issue is being a bit strapped for time I'd recommend DRK as PLD has a more involved rotation than means learning and optimizing a fight takes a bit longer.
Wow guys, thanks to each and all of you for the overwhelming amount of replies. Really stoked! The ffxiv community rocks!
So many good points for each tank. I’m perhaps no closer to an answer haha! It’s ok, I feel the majority think GNB would be the best option.
My cousin plays WAR which he loves so that sort of threw me a little. I did play WAR myself back in 2.0 but, it’s so different tbh.
DRK and PLD still do interest me. I heard PLD becomes quite fun at the later levels?
It’s such a tough choice

Oh yeah.
Especially after 78 you unlock a trait where your spells require no cast time while under the effect of Requiescat.
Paladin's burst window being instant cast ranged attacks is very fun and cool and leads to a lot of freedom during boss fights. It is fun to optimize the placement of your burst to give the boss the biggest middle finger you can when it thinks it can make you disengage for a bit.
The tank that I find the most fun changes over time, but based on what you said your best bets are Gunbreaker and Paladin.
Gunbreaker is the most fast paced tank and it has decent utility (you can apply a regen, a damage reduction buff and a shield on someone else). Paladin is not that fast paced, but is king of party utility.
It’s very subjective really!!Hey guys,
As the post says, I’d like to try tanking and was curious as to which tank you guys find the most fun and why? For me personally I like fast paced, lots of buttons and good utility. Nice damage and being able to solo also appeals!
I’m a tad strapped for time so my gameplay is limited and don’t really have an option to level them all up so thought I’d make a post here and see what you guys all think.
I’m really not concerned as to which is the most viable or desired, it’s all about the fun.
Cheers
Most would say Gunblade because it’s straightforward, feels like dps, it looks cool & has amazing animations.
Some would beg to differ & appreciate Dark Knight’s due to its rythm of dark magic, cosmetic dark appearance & its abilities seems both dynamic & enjoyable with a nice looking two handed sword.
Warrior feels very sayan/berserk/reckless fighter that has amazing self heals & its dps cleavage feels amazing & you get this euphoria of feeling dominant & fearless with a giant wielding axe.
Paladin feels chivalrous & has far many open defensives with some magical dps / heals to both self & others that can act out as an emergency healer + hollow ground your life saver.
I don’t want to convince you nor give any negative thoughts on my other cousin tank jobs since we act distinctly different yet pertaining great wonders each in our own ways.
Feel free to look up guides on youtube friend!

Whoa, there, Falar... I agree with you, but this is not the place for that.
let us not argue with the young and new Dark Knights over our subclass, as the new players have no idea at all what the glory days were like, and the awful current Dark Knight is all that they know, so a lot of them think that Dark Knight is fine, having never seen back when Dark Knight was considerably better... though there are also old player Dark Knights that some how like the current version...
side-note, I am not saying that Cheolsu is a new player, I am just being general.
