    Insight on most fun tank?

    Hey guys,

As the post says, I’d like to try tanking and was curious as to which tank you guys find the most fun and why? For me personally I like fast paced, lots of buttons and good utility. Nice damage and being able to solo also appeals!

I’m a tad strapped for time so my gameplay is limited and don’t really have an option to level them all up so thought I’d make a post here and see what you guys all think.

I’m really not concerned as to which is the most viable or desired, it’s all about the fun.

    Cheers

4.3 DRK. Too bad we live in the now.

Otherwise, if you wanna press a lot of buttons it's either DRK or GNB. GNB has it's 'six hit' combo thing, DRK has oGCD filler. WAR and PLD are comparatively sparse by comparison. Kinda. More or less.

...Most fun tank... In my opinion, that was 3.x Dark Knight, and why I liked 3.x Dark Knight was a third its aesthetic, a third its identity, and I also liked the 3.x Dark Knight gameplay.. more than any other version of any of the tanks. These days, in 5.x era.. I do not in particular especially like any of the tanks, but 5.x(current) GunBreaker is the most close thing to original 3.x Dark Knight, so I play GunBreaker more than the other three...

Warrior is simple and boring, and in general slow pace, as Warrior has little to do in downtime, and still not much to do, in either of its big burst windows... A lot of? Warrior players like Warrior, because it is simple and slow, with big-numbers simple bursts... Warrior does have the best self-healing, though.
as for WAR clone 5.x Dark Knight.. it is for the most part, trash and a disgrace, that is also in a few certain ways, just frustrating to play.

all of the Tanks also have close to the same number of actions(buttons), so... Based off of your outlined preference, I would recommend GunBreaker.
Or Paladin, I suppose, but my main matches-your-preference recommendation would be to go with GunBreaker.

That said.. Zaythe, keep in mind that 6.0/EndWalker release is going to happen in just a few months, and there will be changes to the Tanks, so you may
or may not want to wait for after 6.0 release in late Novemeber, before you get into playing one of the Tanks.

4.1 any tank, outside of perhaps HW-era DRK.

In all seriousness, though, Paladin or especially Gunbreaker are your best bets, unless a particular aesthetic stands out to you so much as to overwhelm gameplay concerns.

Warrior and Dark Knight are each just subtle gradations above mind-numbing.

Lots of buttons and fast-paced sides more with Gunbreaker. Lots of utility sides more with Paladin, but its most visible impact therein is more limited to emergency tools, whereas Gunbreaker's gets more consistent use.

I'm currently waffling between Warrior & Paladin as a Tank role, I haven't played a Tank in a mmorpg in over a decade; and so far I'm having fun with the Warrior, but the Paladin also feels very fun.

Well, fun so far in their very early levels to be fair, but I've read that Paladin is extremely exciting and self-sufficient to play around with.

How much solo power do you want?

PLD currently has the most solo power and a rather active rotation that always feels like you're doing something.

DRK is the most active with the most oGCDs still but less useful for solo.

GNB is second most active, but has a pretty good solo power, better than DRK's.

WAR is the least active but very powerful overall. Good solo prowess, not as good as Paladin on raw survivability, but doesn't lose damage for its survivability and is more survivable than GNB and DRK.

In the current time, which is what you're asking for, right, I'd go with PLD or GNB if you're serious about some old content solos. But if you just mean like, solo some fates or whatever, DRK.

Bases on what you ask GNB would be the best choice for you, have the highest APM (actions per minute) and at contrary that DRK GNB is always doing stuff with little to no downtime compared to the masive downtimes of DRK, it have great utility overall, can heal others, shield them etc etc.

For the solo experience well curiously GNB and far under him DRK are the worst on that, PLD and WAR are way better on that field with WAR being specially amaizing with his costless self heals but is the slowest tank, so a good alternative would be PLD, is roughly the 3° in APM, have the most utility and lots of buttons, and his capacity of solo is one of the greatest, situational since his heals cost dps but they are still there as a emergency so yeah PLD or GNB would be the best for you.

If you allow me I would recomend lvl up PLD until lvl 60 Wich is where you unlock GNB so you get into tanking in a more progressive pace to get use to it and then test both and pick one of those, have fun.

Because I live in the current time, going to recommend what's available now and not use this thread as a vessel to rant about a job that was changed.

I think my personal favorite tank rn is WAR because it's extremely satisfying, but if you enjoy fast paced with lots of buttons, I'd say DRK is your best bet. The opener is pretty hectic with you needing to push several buttons at once, plus there is a lot of resource and cooldown management.
