Exactly my thoughts. I recall that interview from awhile back, and I never brought it up here, because of how uncomfortable it is. I don't think it's even worth discussing it, made up race or not. Either way, some of the justification I've read for them being "androgynous" can be referred to as disturbing, and it's too bad this has been brought up. Like, why was that question even asked?

I honestly don't see the problem with it when we are talking about biology in a non-sexualised way.

They've made that statement that you can't tell them apart as children and without going to that level of biological detail there is no way to clarify - for the sake of properly understanding where the race is coming from - whether that just means they're dressed the same or whether nobody, not even the child themself, can possibly tell which gender they are.

They're not even giving a detailed description of body parts. I don't need to hear about that. But the question of "clothes-on or clothes-off identical" does need to be clarified if that's the concept they have of the race.

This make sense. So sex is determined for viera by female viera developing, the males don’t change at all.

I'm not sure if you're trying to be sarcastic or not, but I get the impression that it's which parts of them develop at puberty, if you catch that drift. (And that certainly is all the detail I want to know.)
