You can't tell younger male and female viera apart even if they are wearing no clothes. It's not the same as human children.

I actually have a lot of problems with this question and answer, and is this in reference to FFXIV lore, or Ivalice lore - like in-general? If I recall correctly, Matsuno was not consulted for their final design in FFXIV. Furthermore, the answer makes literally no sense for a mammallian species. Like I'm sorry, but it doesn't. Something has to have been lost in translation, and for that matter, I don't see the necessity in asking how viera children look naked. It's off-putting.

They only ever give us three outfits per gear series, really. And it would probably be strange when from an in-game perspective they'd be giving away Viera racial gear to everyone (including men) but you still can't have the others.

That's fair, even if they took the Dark Apocalypse route and made the male model drastically different from the female version, it would be kinda weird to have other races running around in Viera racial gear.

Still won't stop me from being a bit salty about Penelo's outfit on 3 separate classes though, and can someone please show me who was asking for Larsa's outfit because Ashe got gypped lol.

Matsuno himself answered the question. Even if it's not 100% accurate, you could google translate the page yourself. Or you could ask a japanese speaker to translate for you. I don't know what else to tell you. It also doesn't have to make sense because

Ashe seems to be an actual character in this version of Ivalice, so it's possible they're keeping her outfit for her if there's a third instalment and she's in it.

Exactly my thoughts. I recall that interview from awhile back, and I never brought it up here, because of how uncomfortable it is. I don't think it's even worth discussing it, made up race or not. Either way, some of the justification I've read for them being "androgynous" can be referred to as disturbing, and it's too bad this has been brought up. Like, why was that question even asked?

Larsa's set is great, simply because it's not a robe.

The Judge sets are nice, but the little skirt thing at the bottom of the chest piece kinda throws it off for me. Not enough for me to not use it but still.

I'll never understand why has to keep bombarding casters and healers with more robes than you can shake a staff at, let me have the crazy tree wizard's armor gosh darn it.

Was a question asking about naked viera children really necessary though? I would have thought "they look androgynous until puberty" or whatever was enough. It's been stated before in this thread that viera don't really have gender roles prior, so it makes a lot of sense. Just like if humans didn't have gender roles.

That question.. It's too much. Either way, as I stated before, if I recall correctly, Matsuno was not consulted in their final design. Even if nothing was lost in translation.
