I may not dislike Asmongold, but I do dislike his fanbase.
He himself has stated multiple times that he doesn't want it to be a big deal if ever does try FF14, but his fans don't listen and have made it a big event.
Any opinion he expresses will be given the most extreme interpretation possible by the fanbase. Any praise will be seen as "OMG this is WoW-killer," and any complaints no matter how small will be seen as "0/10 literal trash!"
I already know what to expect when he finally starts playing. His fans will swarm whichever server he chooses and bring their attitudes and massive frustration at WoW into the game. The queue times will grow to massive proportions. The quality of duty finder groups will massively drop for days or weeks afterwards, possibly forever it he actually enjoys the game and decides to stay. The forums will be flooded with new players making thousands of identical threads complaining about the ARR MSQ.
Actually sounds liked it would be pretty entertaining to watch happen in real time.
No to the latter question because i don’t care for him lmao. This is a slow news day. If he plays, kool, if not kool. Lets talk about the important issues. Like hats and fantas to change hair :V I kid. But yeah, let me pose a question here. Is it REALLY that big of a deal he MIGHT play? I still don't think he will if you ask me my opinion as I think he's too invested /in love with WoW to move on. And if he does it'll only be until 9.1 anyway. So what does him coming here for the short time it'll be do for our game? Would we be up in arms if Mr. Happy played WoW or something else? D:
I am here for the drama, guess in a way FFXIV will have new content the coming months.
And yet people somehow experienced a difference. So either the overlap isn't a majority, the overlap isn't the toxic part for the most part, or there is something in FFXIV that somehow curbs the toxicity to some extent, whether it's enforcement of the rules or something else.I think the funny part of GCBTW comes from that people who actively broadcast how good FF14 always point how the community isnt toxic and is much better than WoW -- even though a majority of the community over laps and has some similar toxic aspects to it.
Its a meme because people overpromote something.
It's not overpromotion. It's overreaction to other people having a good experience and sharing it.
I hope...just to spite...Uh huh...
So, people in the community calling the community toxic but also want to spite the community and want the community to be riled up or made fun of. Like I said, self-fulfilling prophecy.
What a weird response to a neutral post.

Man... thats how it is NOW. Like look at Reddits, Twitters, and this place D:I may not dislike Asmongold, but I do dislike his fanbase.

My belief is that most people complaining about ToS enforcement are those who can't say a sentence witout cussing or insulting someone. In my circles I never heard of anyone being penalised for "bad labguage".
Big part of Asmongold's chat is really toxic, even to himself, but definitely not everyone (especially if you see his latest tweet). From what I heard and saw recently myself, it seems he was quite toxic in the past, but was maturing for the past few years. Atm he seems reasonable to me even though some of his opinions are funny.

The people who hope for a kick at how the GCBTW will react are not the people claiming that the community isn't toxic or that they want to gatekeep the oh so toxic WoW players from the game.
Enjoying seeing people people who lie about the state of the community and who don't take any criticism of the game being faced with differing opinions, or worse, inconvenient truths about the game and its community and their reactions to their exposure to such vicious dissent, is not at all on the same level as basically saying "f off, we don't want you here you toxic pricks" towards an entire demographic while simultaneously claiming that XIV's playerbase is a paragon of acceptance.

im baby
While I find your troll baiting with this element very annoying, I will agree with you that his fanbase can be extreme. I think Zak (Asmond's real name) is a pretty decent guy (in his more grounded videos outside of his streams) when he's not got his chat trying to cause mayhem.
But if his chat were to come ingame (not sure they would like WoW) if they were to PERSONALLY attack you, without you baiting them (which now seeing both you profiles posts, seems what you love to do) , then SE would deal with them pretty quickly.
We don't even know if he will be on the same datacentre or server as you (I bet you will move to be on the same server to try and spin your trolling in your favour)
