Idk, i’ve seen a lot of toxicity in game as well. This games community isn’t the little safe haven people seem to portray it as. There’s just as much toxicity in it as anywhere else from my experience.

just talked about that to another player. i said its kinda embarassing to have the official forum in this state.... its just a pot of shit nowadays. even though its a part of the official representation of the game to the outside.
his answer: 'forums are dying nowadays anyway'
yeah they are... doesnt mean its good for the game to have it in this state.


there are problems in the ff14 community, there are black sheeps, but overall its a friendly community INGAME, dont worry. and tbh twitch would probably be a better place to ask for advice than this forum xD

I mean you can insinuate. I rarely ever talk in game but still get the toxic kind of people. Just yesterday i ran into a tank who got pissy because the monk accidentally pulled the boss so she refused to tank the entire fight and just rp walked around.

I'm not sure what they're on about, either. You can see plenty of unseemly behavior just by branching out of your FC. I've been in plenty of FCs that had some really nasty individuals in it. Not to mention PF groups. I have experienced worse, to the point a dead bird was mailed to my house, but FFXIV's community can be just as bitey as any other.

It wasn't directed at you specifically. Like Lanadra said, it just seems to be the case more often than not that players having these problems regularly end up being the problem themselves. It's not an attack on your character. I don't know you and your behavior well enough to really know or, frankly, care what you do or don't do.

I’ve been through multiple toxic instances in this month alone. It’s why i don’t talk ever in content because 1.i’m afraid i’m going to get banned for saying the wrong thing but 2. a lot of people just seem to have a short fuse and snap at every little thing.

Then you either have terrible luck or...well...

This community isn't the shining ray of hope and friendliness that some may claim underneath it all, but it's also not anywhere near as bad as others also claim. Overall my experiences through the years have been positive. I'd be willing to bet there's a good reason behind that though.

It may exist, but will everyone's experience be dictated by those experiences?

There's a crime in every city, so everyone lock their doors, especially when they're not around, but that doesn't mean everyone has a constant fear of being a victim of a criminal.

If you see someone else being toxic, then report them. You don't fight criminals by merely complaining about them, but not calling the police on them.

And if you're afraid of getting banned, then the problem is more likely you. That's not someone else being toxic. That's you. That said, you're also part of this community as long as you're playing the game. So if you have fear of being banned because of what you may say/do in the game, then it might be a self-fulfilling prophecy to say there is toxicity in the game.

I still do not understand the admiration for this kind of people. Cannot people think by themselves that need a famous one to dictate their way? Joining won't make any change, as any other content creators hasn't done neither.

Still, he will be welcome. The more players the better.
