Don’t really see how the problem is me if i’m afraid of being banned with the way the ToS is in this game but nice gaslighting. It’s not a secret it sucks.

Yes i talk about it on the forums but it’s not complaining, it’s called bringing awareness. Tired of seeing all these people act like the community is a saint when the toxicity is prevalent in this very thread alone.

Raising awareness for what reason? If people experience toxicity, they will be aware of it. And if they don't, then it doesn't matter.

And I've never seen anyone acting like the community is a saint. However, it is their experience with the community. And if you're having a different experience with the community, then maybe start to look into why that is the case rather than assuming people are only acting.

And what about this thread? Some people are saying they don't want people who they perceive to be toxic to enter the community. That's not being toxic by itself. That's more fear and suspicion which may be countered by being level-headed and showing how their fear may be unwarranted.

Simply pushing back and calling them toxic doesn't lead to a solution, but just creates more division within the community. And yes, you are part of the community. So if you think some part of the community is not as welcoming as they should be, then simply be the part of the community that is more welcoming. Then try to work out the differences.

It’s because people claim this is a great community when it’s still just as toxic as the others. I’m not saying other people are lying when they say they don’t experience it. My only gripe is with people saying “oh you must be the problem if you experience it so much.Or you’re lying about it.” Like, no. Just because you don’t experience it as much doesn’t mean someone who does is the problem. That’s gaslighting. Also yes, some of the comments in this thread are toxic. What you described is what we call gatekeeping. That’s not a good thing. 14 tends to attract a certain personality. A personality that is usual kept in check by getting dunked on by other people. However, in 14 the ToS protects this type of person. This fosters growth of said personality until it becomes a toxic mass. The toxic mass is afraid on getting dunked on, and so reee in response. This thread is evidence.

Sorry, "gatekeeping" as you call it is irrelevant unless you actually do something. You can't stop people from playing the game. It's one thing to express your dislike of someone coming into the community because of fear what toxicity that someone may bring to the community. It's another thing to actually do something to harass that person in game so that person will quit the game (or harass that person in social media so they won't start). Only the latter is actually being toxic.

GCBTW is a meme for a stupid reason because of people who have to make everyone aware that somehow a great community doesn't mean it's perfect. Well, duh. People act like they're surprised when there are people in the community that are not as good as the community image and then try to point that out to the entire community.

I think the funny part of GCBTW comes from that people who actively broadcast how good FF14 always point how the community isnt toxic and is much better than WoW -- even though a majority of the community over laps and has some similar toxic aspects to it.

Its a meme because people overpromote something.
