My only gripe is with people saying “oh you must be the problem if you experience it so much.Or you’re lying about it.” Like, no. Just because you don’t experience it as much doesn’t mean someone who does is the problem. That’s gaslighting. Also yes, some of the comments in this thread are toxic. What you described is what we call gatekeeping. That’s not a good thing. It’s especially ironic when the people that are trying to gatekeep from the “toxic” people are the ones being inherently toxic. People love to bash on WoW in this game, yet when WoW people critique 14, they get all defensive and call WoW players so toxic and horrible. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Sorry, "gatekeeping" as you call it is irrelevant unless you actually do something. You can't stop people from playing the game. It's one thing to express your dislike of someone coming into the community because of fear what toxicity that someone may bring to the community. It's another thing to actually do something to harass that person in game so that person will quit the game (or harass that person in social media so they won't start). Only the latter is actually being toxic.

GCBTW is a meme for a stupid reason because of people who have to make everyone aware that somehow a great community doesn't mean it's perfect. Well, duh. People act like they're surprised when there are people in the community that are not as good as the community image and then try to point that out to the entire community.
