Didn't they say that money earned from the cash shop helped fund the additional EU servers and some other stuff? So I guess its safe to say some of that money went into the upcoming Australian servers?

This rings extremely hollow when the profits from XIV's subscription has been funding several of Square's other flops instead of being reinvested back into XIV. But they've become addicted to the cash shop revenue so it'll continue to get content while their cash cow starves.

This right here is why I have a issue with their cash grabs to be honest.. Yes I'm sure some of the profit is returned to the game. But tallying up subs alone, not to mention people with multiple retainers, the phone app paid service. All of that and the cash shop? I dunno, I know a game costs a lot to upkeep and servers and the employees. But I don't think they get a fraction of what they bring in for this game to properly spend on upgrading it. :P

Oh 100%. It’s become pretty prominent to me when the game barely gets advertised at the major game functions like E3 and stuff. Instead they advertise things like their life is strange game or marvel’s flopvengers.There is no way all of our sub money and the mogstation money is going towards the game.

Didn't... Didn't they have like... Sidewalk adverts everywhere in LA during some of the e3 events for XIV over the past few years? It gets plenty of advertisements. I've seen them in movie theaters too.


There's a lot of confirmation bias in these threads over what people see what they want to see when they add stuff to the Mogstation.

We've seen these threads since it was added late 2014....

I know it gets plenty of advertisement. Heck I see it on most webpages anymore if I'm being honest. I know stuff like that costs money as well but I do feel like they don't keep most of the profit the game brings in where the parent company makes other games and as of late a lot of them have not been doing well or raking in what they thought they would for how much they put into them.

That's not how most companies function. Everything gets a budget.

Am I happy about it, no. But nothing will change that. The games budget has significantly increased over the years, even if you may not think it.

They’ve had a few yes but my point is. To my knowledge it’s never been features up as a prominent thing with their major events. They usually just put their other games in. I don’t think it’s so much as confirmation bias as it is....just a problem in general with mogstation.

The game gets plenty of advertisement opportunities. That is a non issue. Currently the free trial is getting a lot of attention, and honestly that is a big move on SE's part, along with some bigger names in the WoW community openly criticizing WoW and its dev team. Even without all of this though the game's got no problems putting itself out there. A lot of the time they seem to just let the game do the talking and let word of mouth take its course.

I'm sure some of it does, but not as much as they want us to think. I've believed that all along.
