I don't think I'll ever understand people that would rather go into Delubrum Reginae so half-cocked that they might as well be hitting the enemies in there with a waffle cone when they could just pick up some essences and do damage equivalent to or greater than players decked out in BiS Savage gear despite being synced down to ilvl 430.

It's a game. I'll try to play well because pushing more buttons is more fun for me, but that's about it. I don't need to always give 110%. I don't care that TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More; chains are only as strong as their weakest link; or whatever other corny lines you saw on a poster once.

I'm about 5 DR runs in and they've taken about 35 minutes each, and that's with most people not using essences.

That's true, but what's 100%? Using essence is not even 60%. We're talking about bare minimum there, about preparation.

No, 100% is showing up to the thing I queued for and playing to 100% of my present capability. Me doing additional work outside of what I queued for to provide additional boosts to the run is what's generally referred to as working overtime.

Showing up is part of it, obviously; can't do anything if you're not there. Then playing as well as you can is the rest of it.

If I don't need pencils or books to do what I need in class then I probably won't bring them. I certainly don't need essences in DRN.

Who said I don't have the time? I have plenty of time, I just don't want to use it farming essences for no real reason.

It's also not about getting carried. I don't expect anyone else in DF to use essences either, and I'm not bothered when they don't.

16 pages' worth of trying to convince a couple of people that using essences is optimal - at this point, just stop beating the dead horse. You'd sooner get Yoshi-P to legalise DPS meters than convince someone on this forum to change their mind. The way I see it, there'll always be a few folks who will insist on dying on their hill. That's their prerogative (like someone mentioned earlier), so all you can do is shrug and walk off. Hats off to those who did try to persuade them though, this was some entertaining bedtime reading.
