Not having gil isn't an excuse since you can always go to bozja and farm some fragments that can last you weeks and saves you even more time. "but not everyone is using them so I won't bother" then you're just contributing to the problem.

Bozja is designed this way with bosses having way more HP than usual, so it's important to have those essence buff plus the lost actions which can also greatly help and massively increase your damage/healing/defense.

It's like entering a duty dungeon with half the gear is broken and some gear is missing, you can still enter the dungeon, but you're literally griefing your team. "but repairing gear costs gil and getting some gear costs gil/tomes" Would you like to enter a dungeon with 3 other players doing the exact samething? The answer would be yes because you don't care and you don't value other peoples times even if the dungeon takes an hour, but instead let's blame yoshiP and square for allowing us to enter dungeons/DR with broken gear/without essences instead of fixing this mindset and mentality.

You just want Square to handout everything to you, but instead we have to deal with players like you.

That's why I only join "speedruns" which is basically 24 players doing the absolutely bare minimum.
AKA get potions and good actions such as Dervish and Lost font of Power for ranged, Lost Rend for melees... No one is actually a crazy speedrunner consuming the website-we-should-not-name or even using a third party software.
It's just essence and lost actions.

A run can take between 15 to 20 minutes and that was before new actions, Bozjan medals!
Now I wonder if Spirit of the Beast + Lost Assassination would be acceptable?

Personally I don’t even expect people to utilize lost actions anymore because apparently reading can be some sort of alien’ish proficiency to learn. As long as I see -any- kind of essence icon in their buff bar, I’m already content enough. Yes, even platebearer, guardian, savior, & veteran; the ones that absolutely contribute nothing in increasing damage. Anything beyond that is a boon.

Outside DRn though (I haven’t run them for quite a while) I have been seeing more and more players with essences. It’s refreshing to see.

If everyone used essences, it would take less time to grind a handful of pures from cluster farming and then run DRN, than it currently takes just to run DRN because no one uses essences - plus I already spent the time grinding for pures so I could actually contribute, so now I've had twice as much of my time wasted.

That's why people are upset with you and your "not enough time" excuse. No one's asking you to go full try hard and bring Font/Banner. Pop a pure, use the other action that comes from the same fragments. Do that and enjoy 20 minute DRN runs.

I treat the game no differently. I try my best, I'm far from the most skilled player around but...it just wouldn't feel right to me to ignore something as game changing as essences when they make it easier for everybody involved.

I'll happily waste my own time when it comes to solo pursuits, but I just can't bring myself to waste other people's time when it comes to group engagements.

This. I forget which one it is but there's an essence that gives you a DPS boost of like 60%, and it's not a rare drop either. I've got like 10 of them just from normal everyday gameplay. Ignoring such a boost not only wastes others time, it ends with you shooting yourself in the foot. Like those people that take the longer route of the wheelchair accessible ramp that goes AROUND THE STAIRS, rather than walk up the stairs - you're taking a longer route and doing yourself a disservice, as well as wasting the time of yourself and others who may be waiting on you to get to the top of the landing.

Fortunately, I'm done with DRN because there were speed runs at basically all hours over the weekend and I only wanted two relics.

Good for you. I'm about 5 DR runs in and they've taken about 35 minutes each, and that's with most people not using essences. I've recently decided that I'll probably just main GNB, and Reaper once the expansion hits, so I only need 1 relic.

Good luck with your imaginary war against "the problem." I'm sure it will amount to a lot of time well spent. I'll just get my relic and then not do Bozja anymore.

I mean, it literally has amounted to time well spent, I've coached you through this twice already, but here's the third: Spend a modicum of time grinding for essences, run DRNs much faster by grouping with other people willing to come prepared, spend significantly less over all time grinding for the relic(s). And then use your extra time to post at people on the forums who don't understand basic concepts like math, I guess.

Improving your own damage still reduces the over all run time. That's like, the whole concept in play here. The more people who actually come prepared to do the content, the more time everyone saves.

I literally JUST told you why I'm not using PF, so I don't know why you keep pushing it and acting like the problem is "I don't understand Math." I'm... using... DF... and... farming... essences... for... DF... is... pointless.

Improving my own damage improves the overall run time by a trivial amount. Spending an hour farming to shave a few minutes off of a few DR runs isn't a win for me.
