After a while, I think the comments upset about the perceived sexism and etc died down.

I think being vocal helps, but another thing that helps a lot are likes. If you have a request, I think this is the best way to go about it:

-Thread title must be clear about what you want.
-Make it clear what you are requesting in the beginning of your OP. The fluff can come afterwards.
-Stick with one thread. If there's already an existing thread with the above criteria, use that one and keep it alive posting relevant/on-topic posts.
    -Leave a like.

Player feedback is most likely compiled and then sent to someone on the ffxiv team. They don't read every single post because there's way too many. What's easiest for them to see are the number of likes.
The vitriol and immediate upset about male viera died down because there was 0% chance they were going to add them in a patch during Shadowbringers, you were always going to have to wait for an expansion to see any news on it.

We're not requesting something to be added that wasn't originally planned, we were told before launch they were going to be doing this and then patch after patch hairstyles come out we can't use so the tensions flare up again and spill out of the mega thread into the rest of the forums.

I'm pretty much always active in the mega thread and would encourage everyone in support to post there instead, but if OP feels she wants to make another thread she's free to do so because it is frustrating.

It died partly because of that, but also partly because many other people pointed out how it made no sense to call the devs sexist. A lot of people called those kinds of comments out.

Anyway, I don't doubt there will be more hair options. I don't really know what the ffxiv team's work flow is like, but I suspect it's more efficient to work on hair and head gear after the character models are complete. Since the devs decided they were going to add male viera, it makes sense then that they would hold off on the hair and head gear. Perhaps it's just easier to have the male and female models done so they can work on hair/head gear in tandem.

The hair and head gear is coming. Just slowly. The graphics team worked extremely hard to live up to player requests and expectations. Working on female hrothgar and male viera is like adding another race - they may be the opposite gender, but it's pretty much the equivalent of a new race. It's a lot of dedication and hard work.

They aren't ignoring the hair and head gear. It's just a matter of work flow.

If not actually doing what you said you'd do and not saying anything of substance on the subject for going on 2 years isn't ignoring it, what is? No, they absolutely are ignoring it.

We can speculate about the workflow and in what order it makes sense for them to do things in, but at the end of the day we don't actually know because they won't acknowledge it or talk about it.

So while it may or may not be the right way to go about it starting these threads, it's going to keep happening.

Just because they haven't said anything on the subject doesn't mean they are ignoring it. There was never any confirmation male viera was going to happen (unlike hair and head gear which were confirmed), yet here we are. A lot of people accused the devs of sexism because there was only female viera and male hrothgar. Are we now going to accuse them of ignoring hair and head gear? None of this is a matter of sexism or ignoring, it's simply about work flow. I am sure the ffxiv team didn't forget about hair and head gear. Would it be better if the ffxiv team communicated a little more with the player base and let us in on some of their plans/goals? Yeah, I guess that'd be nice, but that could just as easily backfire.

And obviously I'm not going to say making a request thread is wrong lol

I don't know if it's about work flow, or if they forgot, or if it's because of male viera, or if it's because of hrothgar, or if it's because of COVID. Could be? Would be nice if they could, I don't know, say something about it? I'm not "accusing them of ignoring it", they are ignoring it by not addressing it or doing anything.

If SE can tell us that female hrothgar is coming without even giving us a date, then SE can say something about the hrothgar and viera hair situation. I'm tired of this.

Girl, same. If (God forbid, please no) the expansion launches and there's still not a strand of hair to be seen people will find some cockamamie reason to twist that into being totally understandable and reasonable as well.

Something that's endlessly baffling about the whiny side of the community is that they ignore the fact that a company invested hundreds of thousands in work force effort (it's not like people are doing this for free), time and other resources to make the race happen. But that company is also suddenly a person with feelings and biases. There is no team making decisions. Only Mr. Square Enix himself and how much he HATES seeing viera worked on. Clearly they're being ignored. Not like, there's priorities and someone given notes to work on things at a later date. They're just sexist/racist.

ffxiv team already said they plan to work hair and head gear. Do you just want them to say "hey guys, we still plan on working on this"? lol
I mean, I get it, some transparency would be nice.

I'd prefer for them to finally actually release something we can use, but otherwise yeah I'd like that very much.

    Glad we agree.

It's great you're getting male viera, but what am I supposed to do with one? Wear him on my head? As a scarf maybe, but not on my head surely...
