that would be so nice TBH. It was bad enough that they already had a laughable hairpool, but to twist the knife even harder, they were like "....yea...give us 10$ then you can change to your one other hair unless you want the other racial hairstyles then change to the other faces teehee"

I really wished they answered a question like that during the live Q & A. Other than just wanting to make money on fantasia sales (i'd be more excusable, but not entirely if they actually gave us more hairs to use...2 hairs is a literal slap to the face), I can't see any other reason to do such a thing

Like most people, when the male Viera trailer began, my immeadiate reaction was "Oooooh hats for Viera?" While I'm happy to see male Viera and a promise for female Hrothgar, I feel like the issues facing these two races needs to be addressed.

For two years, we've been holding on to hope that we would be included in new hats and hairstyles. I was completely fine with the idea that I wouldn't be able to use older hats, but to constantly have events and gear coming out for two years and not having much to show for it is really sad. The customization by using hats and hairstyles is severely lacking, making Vieras and Hrothgars look generally the same. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

It's disappointing that we are potentially going into Endwalker with still no customization options for glam. I've always spending time trying to get pieces of gear or hairstyles, working really hard, and when I'm finally blessed with the item I was hoping for, being able to use it on my character. But it's not the case any more. There's no motivation for me to try to grind items I'm looking forward to or even do events with nice hats.

I was hoping this would be addressed during Fanfest, but as a Viera player, I feel unheard and ignored. I don't want to have to pay for a Fantasia to swap to another race everytime I want to use hats. I want to keep playing my prefered race and be able to use the new hats and hairstyles with everyone else.
Yeah, echoing this sentiment. I actually started to get really excited when they started hinting at something bunny related at fanfest, even though I'd gone in with low expectations and tried to keep them low. It sounds pessimistic, but as happy (and very surprised) as I was to see that it was actually male Viera being announced, it's hard to even let myself be excited when, based on what we've seen so far, I can only expect they'll be every bit as limited as fem Viera are now.

I mean, I did the math, and fem miqo get 51 hairstyles at character creation (45 if you knock of the very slight variations) compared to Viera's 17 (and whopping 8 if you knock off the variants). Like it is not a small difference, and that's just starter hair only, not even looking at aesthetician styles OR hats. Like the difference in customizability is huge. I threw out most of my hats at the start of ShB because I just loved Viera so much, but it's hard to keep loving them when it feels like they haven't gotten any love since being added.

And Hrothgar have it even worse.

^My beautiful Queen. My patience is practically running on fumes at this point as we are the only two races that pay the same amount of money/month, but get less content. For anyone reading this and has something to say, I will say this:

Customization is considered content. Since we have limited customization options, we by default have access to Less content!
Your Viera is almost a spitting image of mine:

While I loved her, I found a lot of viera looked like this and it bothered me to the point of fantasia.

I'm hoping I won't run into the same problem with male viera, but... only time will tell.

They knew the races weren’t finished. They were rushed. If they want to attract new players bringing up your mistakes probably wouldn’t go over well. That’s why I think they didn’t talk about it. You know people asked the questions, they just didn’t get chosen.

How about you address the currently 2 year ongoing concerns instead? This year so far, excluding the "new years greeting" and the live letter digests, there have been only 1 message from the community team, ironically regarding the miscommunication about the RP and PF messages: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...rchid=97338667.
But I guess if there is no communication there can be no miscommunication.

The fact Hrothgar can't even change between their 2 hairstyles without paying $ is a scam.

Unless this means Viera is now "complete" and can be moved into a dev rotation where they receive hairstyles that don't conflict with their ears, you'll be stuck with 8-ish hairstyles like the rest of us and will probably run into the same problem.

This already happens for every race and isn't a bigger problem than you make of it yourself, but with only 8 hairstyles it just happens a lot more often.

Ironically the Hrothgar I see around tend to look a lot less same-y despite being in a worse situation, but that might be because they have a pretty broad and vibrant colour palette to work with.

It's because of the way the character creator works. All characters have the same template of data but the newer races use some things in strange ways that have an effect on the logic of what can be changed in-game.

This is just from observation, but I think that the aesthetician menu is set up to allow editing of specific template slots, and those settings are consistent across all races even though the template slots are used differently.

Most races have unique tattoos that can be edited, but Au Ra use the same piece of data to set their limbal rings. So because that is controlled by a setting that is allowed to be edited at the aestetician, they can edit it.

Hrothgar hairstyles are controlled by the face setting. The face setting cannot be edited, therefore hairstyles cannot be switched. The game does not differentiate them as "different hairstyles for the same face" but two separate faces which happen to be identical.

This, they probably need to change how the esthetician works to fix the hrothgar situation with the manes, but a small mistake could allow other races to change stuff that can only be changed with a fantasia. Still, I think that allowing them to switch manes doesn't solve the problem, having 2 manes per face seems ridiculous, they should rework the hrtoh creator entirely.

Color palette + plus the fact they don't have human faces to begin with likely wakes up more creativity in people and they experiment with all avalilable options rather than going for a smaller pool of them. After all, when we're talking about humanoid faces - most of players will go for something what is considered pretty in a conventional way, and beauty standards aren't that different in EU and NA, for the most part.

I think by now all we can do is keeping this post active I think. I even thought about starting one of those online petitons but I don't think it would go far tho.

I still have hope that I'm gonna be able to go back to my bunny girl and use all of the hairs that I unlocked so far. I'm kinda tired of being an Elezen.
It's annoying that the mod community was able to fix the hair issue, like what? Two week after SB was released? They are not even being paid like the professional team from SE. I refuse to use mods, first cuz it's against TOS and secondly I like to play the game as it is...

I don't know, we still have some months in front of us before EW and I wanna believe that at least vieras are gonna get updated.... This race has been in Beta Testing for 2 years, new gear and new hairstyles are always coming out and they are not being updated... It's frustrating tbh.

In 2 years how can't SE Team fix the issue? What's wrong Yoshi P.? What's keeping you from giving us feedback and updates? The silence is killing us !!
Like I said previously, I'm very happy that Male Viera are coming but if that means no Modern Aesthetics neither Hats I would rather prefer having them postponed.

And let's not even speak about Hrothgar players having to pay to change hair, that's R I D I C U L O U S. Vieras are in beta testing but Hrothgars are still in Alpha version.

I love this game, it's my favorite, but it's really sad when you are devoted and paying a subscription and the team doesn't address an issue that's bothering a LOT of people...

    Let's keep being positive y'all!!

The mod community doesn't have to work on the rest of the game. Or actually make the hairs they're pasting on.
