I'd love to have parsers be standard in this game; I used them all the time in WoW and not having them in this game takes away most of the fun of playing a DPS class.
If I had the time, i'd list the number of ways "fun" can be redefined. Suffice it to say that the rampant abuse of said "tool" is enough for me to never see one again. What can be used, can be misused, abused, mishandled or become a weapon for petty "people" more interested in forcing their "standards" and ego on others.

Said misuse over the years has turned WOW from a game into a fulltime job, to the point of what I would call at times vindictive, vile, utterly reprehensible behaviour. I lost count of the number of so called "raid leaders" screaming obscene abuse at the top of their lungs at people who didnt meet idiotic "dps standards"..and by obscene abuse I am referring to foaming at the mouth, almost homicidal rage.

i am referring to the kind of behaviour that, in public, would definitely have resulted in an immediate arrest.

FF 14 does not want, does not need, and never will need that kind of toxicity..in this I stand in full agreement with the FF 14 devs on the matter.

I will not, no, actually cannot, detail what I heard and witnessed over eight years in WOW

if you ever wish to doubt my word, you are cordially invited to come see me on Kujata and I will happily recount some of my experiences to you firsthand.

Yea WoW is why I am against everyone being able to easily see parses of those they're grouped up with. Many of the things that I witnessed being said as a result of parser abuse I literally cannot repeat them in the forums or the game. They're that bad. I would have to rephrase them to give people an idea. Things such as telling a player they should end their own life because their dps wasn't to their personal standards, and all that riddled with F bombs and insults...while in very easy content -_- Sadly some people don't need much to turn their harsh criticism to 100.

Of course not every instance in WoW for me was unpleasant because of parser abuse, but enough have been that I am firmly against in-game parsers being anything beyond a personal grade at the end of content that only you can see. Being a healer I was rarely the target of the abuse but watching it happen really sucked. Not to mention when the incidents turned into a full blown argument and the progress of the content entirely stopped until they cooled off or someone left.

I have been playing FFXIV since HW and I have NEVER seen a DF group fall apart due to a completely unnecessary very heated argument full of insults about performance, but in WoW I saw it happen several times each year that I have played. And those several times I am referring to are just the worst of the bunch. There are those other times when needless harsh words were exchanged but the group still kept going.

I don't miss dealing with that at all. I pug DF way more in FFXIV than I ever have in WoW because in FFXIV the worry of seeing that sort of behaviour is tiny by comparison.
