I didn't read this thread much so I don't understand the context of this really, but I don't like this mentality.
Up until now, viera were never seen before. They never had an official appearance and no one knew what they looked like until now. It's not like you can hijack their height - they never had a set height to hijack in the first place. (Just btw, I'm personally very happy with male viera, and I think they fill the niche elezen failed at.) In the end, I think this should be left up to the ffxiv team's vision. That being said, I would like a slider with a wider range of height, and for all races, not just male viera. I'm never going to say no to more customization options.

You're right. Male Viera have never been seen before in a game, so we can't assume to know for sure how they're meant to look.

For me, I'm operating on the idea that Viera in general are a tall race. What we know of the Viera is that they're tall. That's why, for me at least, assuming that the males would be taller given how most of the races are designed, Viera racial descriptions, and how they've been depicted in concept art, is on the safer side.

Now, I'm actually okay with the height slider being a wider range akin to female Roegadyn. What I disagree with is making male Viera shorter than the females.

A lot of people might assume the reason I want male Viera to be taller than female Viera is because "I can't stand to be shorter than females". That's definitely not the case.

Female Viera max out at 75 inches. This is just a few inches above a max height Midlander. If male Viera are made to be shorter than the females, that means they'll end up being around the same height as Midlander or Miqo'te.

And the thing is, Midlander and Miqo'te are two "pretty boy, anime protagonist" options for shorter males. We don't really have that on the tall side, except for Elezen.

This is where my personal opinion comes in. As someone who enjoys playing tall, pretty boy races in video games, I want very much for male Viera to be on the taller side. 75 inches may be tall for female characters, but it's definitely more average on the male side. 75 inches is fairly tall in real life, but in a game where races like Roegadyn and male Au Ra exist, 75 inches is pretty average.

One of the reasons why I'm excited for male Viera is because it'll be a chance to have another tall pretty boy option. The other tall options in this game don't fit that category.

Roegadyn are very bulky. Hrothgar are extremely bestial. Au Ra have face horns and lots of scales that cover up the body. Highlanders are also very bulky and not exactly pretty boy types. We only have Elezen left, but as you said, Elezen fails at that niche. (Although on a side note, I don't think male Elezen are that much of a fail but they could definitely be improved).

When people post about how they want male Viera to be tiny, it's frustrating because I get the feeling that people want the "pretty races" to be short, but they're totally okay with the chunky, oogly boogly races being tall.

When Hrothgar was released, nobody demanded that they be made shorter. But sure enough, when female Viera (an elegant tall girl option) was released, there were plenty of threads on here and other sites requesting that they be shorter.

And I feel that it's the same case with male Viera. We finally get a potential option for a male that is tall and handsome and fits that anime protagonist/pretty boy archetype without looking like the bulky meathead sidekick or the niche bestial friend, and people want to claim it for the short side. Again, I don't mind a wide range in the height slider, but pushing for them to be very short without the possibility of being at least close to male Elezen just feels so unfair. It does feel like hijacking, however, I can definitely admit that it is presumptuous of me to assume that male Viera would always be tall.

I just want another tall pretty boy option because right now all we have is Elezen.

Roes, male Au Ra, Hrothgar, Elezen are already tall races, they are not mid. Hyrs are the middle ground, then miqo & lalas are short.
Highlanders are the smallest of the tall races, midlanders are the tallest of the small races.
I alway see the race descriptions as something written by a hyur (who are the middle ground), so Elezen alredy being tall make more sence.
If you play the tallest races at max height already: yeah female viera size will feel small.

Understandable tbh but is min elezen and max highlander small to you? If they do male viera in the same way as female viera: Male viera will be smaller than max male elezen and taller than max male highlander. Worst case it's female viera size and max female viera is close to min male elezen.

I think ppl just prefer small races that's it, they don't want to tower everyone. Since they are into the bishonen look, they want viera to not be too tall (just like you don't like being too small).

Because they didnt want it (not into beast races) and ppl who wanted hrothgar were happy with their size? Some ppl who liked viera but wanted to be short as well asked for it.

I think you'll get it but it might not be as tall as max elezen, at worst it will be close to min male elezen. I really don't see male viera ending up 100% shorter than highlanders.

In the end not everyone will be satisfied (at least players who like it only really tall or only really small won't be happy) but at the very least we have the bunnies, it's better than nothing imo.

And I'm totally fine with your opinion. I think the males will most likely be the same height or a little taller than the females.

I think the female Viera being made shorter request were squashed pretty quickly because Viera (especially the ones ours seem to be based on) were always tall, even the fan-darling Feol. Male Viera are uncharted waters, so it's still open season.

Personally I'm glad they didn't cave at the time and made female Viera shorter because I think they struck an almost perfect balance with the height and the proportions, there's a reason they're often referred to as Elezen-done-right.

The models are done and, while I can't speak for SE's work process, I assume the character proportions are decided before putting the finer work into the model, to ensure they look right next to all the other characters.

They need to set those I suspect in advance to working on adjusting all the gear sets as well. This is probably the case already for female Horths unless they're not coming until 7.0.
