Sure they do. Not before, but right now those character models exist and the game creators have built them how they think their creation should look.

It definitely feels like "hijacking" to respond to their reveal with "thanks but I urgently need you to implement my opinion of what you should have done with them".

This thread makes it quite clear that some group are going to be unhappy with whatever the creators decide on, so they might as well just ignore all the feedback equally and do what they want with their own design. It was never going to cover the massive spectrum of what people envisaged the race might look like.

The humor in a two year campaign just to get male viera and see people respond with, "If they aren't exactly what I want, I won't play them." It's not lost on me.

I'm referring to their height when compared to female viera. We just don't know if they're shorter, same height, or taller yet. Until the benchmark comes out or if their height is confirmed earlier, no one knows for sure.

None of us know what their height is next to the other characters, but the models exist and the creators will have built them at a decided scale relative to the other character models. It's not like they haven't set it yet and are still deciding how tall to make them - I assume that would be one of the first things to be established, not an afterthought.

So, the people who want male viera to be shorter than their female counterparts are hijacking them. Then what about people who want them to be taller than their female counterparts? Would you also consider that hijacking?

What about people who want expanded sliders for already existing races? (Height, muscles) They hijacking, too?
This all feels so one way.

Yes. The people who are asking the creators to alter their creation to suit the asker's preference are hijacking it either way, hoping to have the idea bent to their own preference.

I didn't say anything about the specifics of what is being requested or that only one side is hijacking it. Just the general mindset of petitioning the devs to change what they're doing to suit one person's preference over another instead of letting them create what they want in their game. My first post specifically said that neither side should be listened to.

They have given us male Viera as they envisaged the concept. If you're lucky, it lines up with yours. If it doesn't, you can learn to like them - and if you can't do that then the supposed imbalance of races has still been addressed and you're personally no worse off than when they didn't exist.

I remember everyone and their grandmother telling us to accept and like the fact that we got female Viera back in Shadowbringers. If we listened to that we wouldn't even be talking about male Viera today. So that narrative is completely out the window.

Furthermore, Endwalker is half a year away and everything presented at Fanfest is subjec to change. Unless you work at Square enix there's no way to tell what's complete and what they will take a look at as far as what the male Viera fanbase thought about the reveal trailer and what adjustments can be made. I'll take you back to male Hrothgar and how a reddit post showing hair clipping through the ears and humanoid-lion faces got fixed months later after a well publicized reddit post.

Adding wider height slider like female Roegadyn's is not altering the creator's creation. It's actually improving upon their creation as this is the last male option to be added to the game. Right now we're shoehorned to the beastial/orc aesthetic if we want to be a tall male.

There's a lot of images of height comparisons floating around that make it look like male viera are smaller than they really are, so that's why. Most of the images don't seem very accurate.

I understand people's wants for a race can differ from what's presented. Come what may, as long as people are respectful and appreciate the work they're doing (they really didn't have to do this), voicing what one prefers isn't a bad thing. They will release what they feel is right, but I won't discount any future work that may allow for more variance in customization. Who knows if they would consider this input for future work on CC. If additional work is a possibility in the future it's worth a shot, right?

That said, my opinion on the height is moot. We're making educated guesses, or as educated as we can manage. I don't particularly care one way or the other as I don't have a horse in the race. I'm just happy they're being added.
