people should stop whining, you got the male viera you asked for, take the win and move on.

Aaaand.... where people do, exactly? I can only see celebratory messages from those who waited them and supporters who won't play them but are glad regardeless, plus some speculations about their height and customization options which is just that - speculation, since it's still about 5 months before we'll get benchmark. Messages like "I can't wait for their release" aren't whining, it's just an excitement, which happens before every expansion. Nothing wrong with being hyped for new things and sharing this hype with others. And this thread is suited the best for it.

If there's whining, it's from those who was against their implementation, but those are a minority. Maybe some portion of people who expected them to look differently, but that was pretty much inevitble no matter their final look. Most people, in this thread at least, seem to be more than happy.

It's great this thread got so many likes and support. I think the ffxiv team does sometimes look at the feedback on the forum, so I think more people should utilize the like button. It's more effective if you have one thread with a bunch of likes instead of many threads of the same topic with no likes.

I think they even said themselves many times, that there's a higher chance they'll notice something if it's a big thread with a lot of likes and comments on top pages rather than hundred of small ones that are drowned under the pile a few days later. Which, I suppose, passed by a lot of users without being noticed, because iirc it's not mentioned in any guidelines (at least I don't remember it being mentioned in those).

Yup, I remember something like that being said as well. It has worked well for me, so I hope more people try it out. (Maybe for something like character customization options/more faces?) It also helped that, for better or for worse, I unintentionally annoy people enough to the point they want to keep commenting at me... lol But this thread did pick up a lot of steam on its own, so that was good.

And off topic, but can I just say that whenever I see a "show your support thread" now, it makes me chuckle.

Even if I think they are kind of androgynous, it's nothing I feel the need to debate over or convince other people of. It's not that deep. I'd probably change my mind if I saw one with facial hair or something.

They look kind of androgynous to me. I don't normally go on twitter, but since I was so excited to see what other people thought, I went to check it out. (Also watched reaction videos.) It seems like people share the same opinion I do more or less. But hey, if you think they are classically handsome and like the design choice, all the better. This is a time for celebration.

Looking at this picture, you'd think the Hrothgar and Viera are similar in height. But the backgrounds don't line up perfectly. And you have to consider camera angles and distances. On top of that, we don't know how tall that Hrothgar is.

So who's to say? We can only go by what we know for sure already.

In my opinion, I feel that the male Viera will end up being taller than the females, just as is the case with most of the races. If they are going to be an exception to that common dimorphism, then it'll most likely be a Lalafell-type situation where Viera males and females are the same height.

I really doubt they're going to be as short as male Miqo'te. Yoshi's comment about making them Elezen-like is very telling, and you can see it in both the concept art and final illustration art.



The finalized male Viera look very faithful to the art. They have tall, lanky proportions. Their torsos are long, although it's hard to tell because their clothes hide it. Their legs are also lengthy. They don't have that short, gymnast type of body that the male Miqo'te do. If anything, they have more of a swimmer build, like the male Au Ra and male Elezen. Though granted, swimmers don't usually have long legs like that. But they definitely got long torsos.

Again, they're not going to be huge. Will they be taller than Roegadyn, Au Ra, Hrothgar, and Elezen? No way, unless you count the ears.

A maximum height male Viera will probably be a little taller than a maximum height male Highlander, a minimum height Hrothgar, and be around the same height as a minimum height Au Ra.

I think people expecting huge, extremely tall bunny men will be disappointed, but so will those who are expecting very short, Miqo'te-sized bunny boys.

Well, I was not expecting that announcement at ALL so it came as a big surprise, but I gotta say congrats to the people that have been waiting on this. I'll fully admit I'm a bit salty that female Hrothgars will be coming later and that they weren't released at the same time, but I also understand that male Viera were way more popular to begin with so it makes sense to finish and show them off first.

The only thing I'm worried about is the glaring hat/hair problem that's currently present, and if male Viera will have the same issues. It was a big factor why I dropped Viera and went back to Miqo a few months after the SHB launch. I know there's still 6 months to go and plenty we haven't seen yet, but the way the Hrothgar in the Reaper art doesn't have the hat (and the Viera in the Sage art lacking the circlet) isn't giving me a whole lot of hope right now...

but they can definitely use it


vieras and Hroth will have the circlet I dont think the hood will be much of a issue either when they can already wear the 2 piece hoods like vermilion coat
