There's a ton they need to do to fit it into XIV. There's this mysterious place apparently no one knows about that has technology more advanced than the Allagans or world-hopping beings like Omega. Somehow at some point some mysterious portal opened and brought all this over. The door was barred. Who did that? If they're as advanced as they were displayed to be, how did that paltry door keep them contained? Was it pre-Light or post-Light? If pre-Light, then how did this place entirely escape the influence of Light and sin eaters? As I saw someone mention on these forums at one point as well, Eulmore had airships. How did they miss the Bunker? Do they do anything with aether? That's a key component of the XIV setting, even on Norvrandt.

It's not just sci-fi and technology and time travel. The means to do those have a lore as well and nothing about the Nier raids references that or integrates with it.
