Maybe we will see a new trailer with Zenos getting his new weapon, and it may/may not show us what the new melee DPS possibly uses? So much speculation and conspiracy theories we can conjure until the reveal, lol.
Wait were people actually thinking Estinien was going to be changing??The reference to "slots" is in fact referring to gear slots. So yes, he is outright saying it wears maiming gear. DRG's interesting position is that it wears heavier armor than the other melee; this comment is in reference to a previous statement of his made sometime around when SAM was revealed as people asked why SAM wore striking and not Maiming or Scouting gear (don't ask for a source, I cba).
They did this before with him, when he was introduced at a fanfest wielding three Katana during Stormblood's initial reveal before the job was teased in 3.5 with Gosetsu and then later when they revealed the Othardian part of Stormblood.
Also just gonna drop this from the official twitter today—to further back up my claim that Estinien is still a DRG, they released his Endwalker render today:

We could, but having Zenos as the NPC representative of the new Job would still be out of pattern. As I said, it could be a new path they take. But the general pattern to this point has been the new Job is represented among NPCS as a friendly, not our enemy.
Zenos does essentially fight like our sam does though. Think of Zenos way of samurai as a tank version of our samurai. Better explained by caliburSo while he was not really a samurai he fought similarly to one by charging the sens with his rotary scabbard and having different sens than our samurai. (Quote from here btw: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...pansion/page70 )Zenos was always intended and designed to be a dark mirror of the WoL. His StB design was very much intended to be Samurai as Shogun(tank) as compared to our Samurai as Ronin(DpS). If i remember right Zenos was also revealed after the full trailer had revealed the WoL as Samurai.
She's fighting in a non-standard way but is sort of midway between arcanist and red mage at that point, though with gladiator animations because the job didn't officially exist yet. She's effectively summoning the sword like a Carbuncle though.
It's mentioned in the red mage quests that the job trainer X'rhun Tia knows Alisaie and taught her basic red magery, which would have already happened at this point in the MSQ, so it seems like theoretically she's carrying on that training even though it's not shown as such.
(On a side note I'm making a wild prediction that X'rhun might turn up in MSQ some time. He seems to know everyone and has contacts in Sharlayan.)
This. There's just as much chance of Zenos getting a unique weapon as of him getting "our" new melee job.
It also leads to the possibility of him beating up one of the wols allies and gaining a new found strenght from that weapon. My theory is he gets the jump on estenian and takes his spear.Estenian gets left for dead but survives and takes up a new job training from some people who took him in.We know hes been threading on thin ice with his investigations into garlemand already so far and im not sure how well a dragoon job would work coding into trust system with all the jump skills.
Furthermore it makes no sense for one of the clear main protaganists to be playing the new job as storywise we dont have anybody we know who wields the new weapon and he's clearly hinted he's gonna go take the weapon off someone presumably in our enterage of allies.
I don’t remember seeing anything that hinted at him TAKING a weapon from someone. Just he needed a new one. Did I accidentally skip a key cutscene? It also leads to the possibility of him beating up one of the wols allies and gaining a new found strenght from that weapon. My theory is he gets the jump on estenian and takes his spear.Estenian gets left for dead but survives and takes up a new job training from some people who took him in.We know hes been threading on thin ice with his investigations into garlemand already so far and im not sure how well a dragoon job would work coding into trust system with all the jump skills.

If sage ends up being the only healer with a beefed up dps rotation, you can expect to see nearly only Sage healers come 6.0. Actual dps rotations is something healers have been crying for for a long time now.
A lot of healers just want to heal. Even those get upset when they remove interesting damage spells.
