Bring WOWs allied race mechanic to XIV

If we had our own allied race mechanic, think of the cool races that we could play. I love the idea of unlockable races, because it makes them cool, more difficult, and a player accomplishment to earn.

My ideas for such races in this game would be:

- Lupin
- Burmecians
- Baanga
- Ivalician Moogles
- Seeq
- Nu Mou

Also upon completion you would get a free one time fantasia for the first time completion of that races unlock quest, but it would ONLY work for that race change, and for one use. If you changed back after making the choice, you would still have to buy a fantasia, or make a separate character.

No I do think Female Hrothgar and Male Viera should be in an allied races content feature. Female Viera and Male Hrothgar are already pickable races. Let's not make it more difficult just to unlock an opposite gender. This group of races would be entirely separate and optional.

I don't think they will add more races, nor should they. They expressed how much goes into it and the problems they had with Viera and Hrothgar, Viera and Hrothgar are unfinished too.

If you fancy those kinds of races as a fantasy thing, they could add a "costume" feature that could be posed in game like how Imps and Sylphs glamour themselves.

So if you fancy going around as a Lupin, for example, you can.

New playable races shouldn't be a thing until at the very least they finish the ones we've got, even then, I think we have a good selection and would rather then focus their efforts on improving other things

Allied races was the exact reason I quit WoW back in 2018 because I didn’t like the way they made you grind and jump through unnecessary hoops to unlock them.

Races should be included in a paid expansion like they always used to be, until the Blizzard devs had to come up with a new way to increase their most prized metric: time played. So instead of having new races as a key feature of a new expansion, they made an epic grind and timesink to unlock them. Just like they do with flying.

Now, to be fair, they removed the rep requirement for Allied Races, and they are easier to obtain now, but they shouldn’t need to be unlocked in the first place.

If FFXIV ever does anything like that, I’d probably peace out here as well.

The Warhammer format, because that's what WoW was inspired by, is not the only one.

The one of FFXIV is based on a triple faction, you've probably already heard of Dark Age of Camelot, right?

We were told they were going to add more. That is not an IF but a FACT. They simply haven't gotten around to it. No one is expecting them to add or give us all the headgear but hairstyles were promised. How anyone can still think this isn't something they promiised is beyond me.

Not giving the new races new event items is also a sore spot and it certainly an indicator that there aren't any new races coming.

They did add more. They were announced with none, they pulled overtime to add some.

Adding some was a mistake; had they just stayed at none people would’ve given up by now.

No it wasn't a mistake and that has nothing to do with my comment about additional hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar. Those were promised. Yoshi-p has also made numerous statements that the hear gear is a problem and that isn't something they will be able to provide.

This doesn't contradict my point however that the dev team is having problems dealing with providing content for the currently released races as illustrated with a lock of content even with new event items let alone adding new races. They have also said that Viera and Hrothgar would be the last races added to FFXIV although many are pushing for them to add the missing genders.

It's like people don't even read anymore and immediately start screaming "NO HATS" when they see Viera or Hrothgar even mentioned, even though you clearly said hairstyles in your original comment...
