While I don't particularly like the idea of leaving FFXIV, you're correct in this remark. Money speaks, personal crusades don't.I want to see just how far this one GM is going to tyrade. The RP community has been advertising events and venues on the PF since the day of it's inception in 2.1. This is something that's carried on for at *least* five years prior. Now, unannounced and in violation of their own Terms of Service, one person is trying to ban out an entire community's practice. They will either stop, or people will stop paying their company and directly affect their well being. Which is it going to be? There are plenty of other MMO's that will treat their roleplaying community better that are already out there. We can just move if this is too much of a hassle.
Because if there's one language Square will listen to, it's money. Lose them money, they'll fix their shit.

While i do not disagree with your stance on the business of that GM, i do disagree that "there is no alternative". Maybe it's about time people picked up those discord ads and made them equal and bearable, instead of relying on things like PF.
If there is will - there is way.
Jesus Christ, we're here again. That first sentence comes from the implication of what you are saying.
Let's clarify it:
So is it ok if they do the same thing but for free?
Do you think SE will do anything if 7 people is willing to let 1 person jump off the edge the moment they can and clear the content like that for them?
And let's not forget that we're talking about PF advertisement here. So they can make it vague enough that you can't say just from the ad what exactly they are doing.
Doing something for free and being charitable about it still devalues the content for a vast majority of people, especially if it essentially results in the person being to 'declare' non-participation whilst still getting rewards. Not against the ToS however. But the topic here is not about people doing things for free, it is about people Selling. Again, don't misrepresent the argument. Giving something away, and selling it are 2 entirely different things, especially with anyone giving it any modicum of thought should be able to deduce the latter is likely to include RMT, and the former more than likely account sharing. Not even sure why you're defending it tbh

This should be the focus right here. GMs are not anonymous in-game, their name shouldn't be censored when spreading the story. If GMs weren't supposed to be held accountable, their names would not be provided.
Thing is, /shout is the next-best (and simultaneously, worst) replacement, since it has as wide a reach as the area you're in and just not as wide as PF. But, the double-edged sword comes into play when you get into vindictive people potentially reporting you for spamming. While i do not disagree with your stance on the business of that GM, i do disagree that "there is no alternative". The other replacements require you to make use of some sort of invite-only internal (linkshell and Fellowship, each limited) or any type of external service. It essentially drives it into features not quite there or designed for it, or off the game.

Might I remind some of the forum guidelines:

Well, Party Finder may have not been designed for advert's in the first place, but here we areThing is, /shout is the next-best (and simultaneously, worst) replacement, since it has as wide a reach as the area you're in and just not as wide as PF. The discussion needs to happen no matter how you feel. Otherwise, the implication is that the staff are therefore impervious to critique.

I think they're referring to some people calling the GM names.
The discussion may need to happen but it's not worth catching a ban over, forum or otherwise.![]()
I agree with this. Why is it only GM Wyndallus is seen in all these screenshots, not only that, this is across different servers as well.
