Meanwhile, while the GMs are cracking down on roleplayers and their venues, on Crystal alone there are several parties advertising content selling at this moment while using their discords as contacts so they can discuss RMT and piloting outside of the game to avoid getting bwoinked by a GM for ToS violations. A few of which are explicitly not hosting joinable parties because they are trying to form a party... they are just trying to fleece players for gil and money. But apparently, Square Enix endorses this now since this has been allowed while RP venues have been targeted by this new rule.

No, I was just asking because of them condoning ERP in game. That is actually contradictory to anything I can recall reading or hearing in LLs etc.

AFAIK they only ever have condemned ERP in public, but not seeking it publicly (without being explicit) or doing it in private. Having an FC named "Eorzean Royal Pastries" specializing in "cream pies"? Not okay. Just flat out mentioning "our FC is 18+ and ERP-friendly"? Fine, apparently. And it does make a certain amount of sense.

Well sure but that doesn't mean it should be used as an excuse for every authoritarian crackdown ever. At that point, it becomes kinda meaningless and very naive to unquestioningly believe it when that's offered up as a justification.

Are vulnerable people being protected by banning RP who couldn't be protected any other way?

But a clean party-finder for what? Fate parties? They have their own tab. BLU parties? BLU content parties go in their respective content tabs. Unsync parties? They go in the tab for their respective tier of content. Even for the rare content that does go into the Other tab like maybe BLU-leveling parties when they release a new patch, it is not hard to glance through and find what you are looking for. I am on Crystal, arguably the RP hub of all the data-centers and even at peak it takes a grand total of 15 seconds to look through the list and find a party I am looking for. If your argument is they clog up sorting by all then that is also silly, because Other-tab parties are listed near the very bottom of the list behind every other party, only private parties are listed lower.

Ah, now that is a fair and valid response. I wont know how it is on Crystal, as i have not been there, and i cannot judge your value of speed reading, as i clearly do not know you, but as i was going to mention to the pink lady - pf flogging is a real issue. Just to remember those "Sastasha pizza deliveries" posts, as well as "Sastasha(Hard)(Savage)" groups, that each were roughly 8-10 parties, yet nobody moved a brow, because it was funny. You can argue that "UuUh just dont look at them, look for what you need", and we could go into BILLIONS of imaginary scenarios with back and forths on that argument, but we each made a point, and, arguably, neither will be able to change another's mind.

I'm uncertain how banning a safe-for-work Cafe RP protects the vulnerable. Even if you have a heart condition you can roleplay drinking coffee quite safely.

I am quite concerned with a lot of the flak this GM is getting for just doing their job. All they are doing is enforcing the ToS, and, for the most part, just giving warnings. Acting on legitimate reports. Letting people know the PF isn't for advertising "venues" in general, it's for running content.

Funniest thing about this is that you censored the names, but everyone knows them because it's the same bloody people making the same PF on all three datanceters.

Except... they aren't. PF has been used to advertise a whole host of different things for years now. I outlined that is my last response to you. This GM has suddenly decided to enforce a rule that has never been enforced prior, and we have conflicting reports from other GMs claiming it's perfectly okay to advertise "venues" using PF.

Here is the thing, the reason why people are up in arms is because this rule was -never- known to exist before, and, if it was an explicitly ERP thing that would have been noted. Social events are by technical merits content as much as a player selling armor in the other tab.
I understand what you are saying but its like saying there is a law against something that no notification was given that it existed and no laws were changed to anyone's knowledge.
