Why are people so adverse to talking in discord within FC?

I don't understand why some people here are so sensitive about it. It was a simple question from someone who seemed disappointed by the lack of use after it was specifically mentioned/ advertised.
No need to get out the pitchforks, nobody is forcing anyone to do it. Giving your personal reasons for not using it is one thing but this "bc chat exists DUH!" or "kids these days" makes it looks like this is a very sensitive topic for some that easily riles them up for whatever reason.

I'm not offended by the use of Discord and the like. People can do whatever they want. I just think there's an overreliance on such things in an MMORPG with an in game chat system, kinda like "kids these days" and their phones. At the end of the day, it doesn't affect me now. I formed my own FC. But this was something I encountered a lot before floating from FC to FC trying to find a place to hang up my hat, and it was a little frustrating joining what was supposed to be a very social FC that was silent outside of Discord 90% of the time.
