OP you would have a point if we were getting absolutely no new content but this isn't the case. Content you're not interested in doing isn't the same as a lack of content.

While I loathe the demolition mechanic I recognise that it is, for lack of a better term, a necessary evil. As long as there is a severe shortage of houses that cannot hope to even remotely meet the demands of an ever growing population measures need to be taken to funnel houses to players who are actively playing.

I know that "active" is a very strong word for someone who only logs in to reset the timer but that is still more active than someone who doesn't log in at all.

I understand the frustrations of being unable to unsub if you want to keep all your assets. I also understand the anxiety tenants feel if the house owner is beginning to look like they will stop logging in. These situations suck. But these are symptoms of a larger issue; the lack of instanced housing.

OP in the future you may want to consider relinquishing your plot if your tenants or friends willing to share get a house. You seem to be the sort of person who unsubs periodically, and that habit doesn't align with keeping a house in FFXIV. If you become a tenant you would be able to unsub whenever and however long you wish.

As a sidenote I'm hoping that island feature is going to have some manner of housing. If it does it would alleviate the biggest issue housing has. If it doesn't I won't be surprised given SE have some very strange ideas as to what is considered to be a good and fair housing system. Just have to wait and see.

It was clear from before I made this thread, I never said it wasn't. In fact, the very reason I posted was specifically because it was clear and because I wanted to ask SE to consider a temporary amendment. The nature of which I don't particular care about as long as it's a QoL improvement until the next expac. It's a pretty simple ask, I'm not sure why you're still here reminding me of what is.

Thanks for the post, and my desire to unsub temporarily is as exceptional as the lack of battle content provided by SE this year due to covid. And as temporary as the leeway I suggest here.
I usually wouldn't consider a hiatus since SE, under normal circumstances, provide enough battle content to stay busy. If they had produced either one extra bozja zone (totaling 3), one deep dungeon or one ultimate, I wouldn't have considered posting. It would have been a content lull for sure but still enough to justify sticking around. (I'm using these as an example because we got these and more last expansion. But I would settle for something else too).
However, since we won't be getting any of those I saw it justified to ask SE to at least consider a gesture for battle nerds. I know it was partially beyond their control but it's a pretty significant game time drop this time around and a gesture would be good service.

Considering demolition has only been recently turned back on I don't see them changing anything about demolition anytime soon unless something extraordinary happens. If they wanted to do the gesture you would like them to they just would have kept demolition off until a later date.

I get where you're coming from, the game right now doesn't have enough of the content you like to keep you entertained so you don't want to pay for something you're not playing. But as I said there is other content to do so you're not really going to get anywhere with a post like this.

Imagine for a moment SE did decide to turn off demolition or extend the timer due to being unable to release as much combat content as they could in the time when there was no pandemic. If they do that then anyone who feels SE isn't releasing enough of the content they like would ask for the same treatment. It would be a slippery slope that would lead to a lot of drama from players who feel their personal needs as a player aren't being met so they think they deserve longer demolition timers when they request it, players who are disgusted that SE seem to rate players who do certain content as more important than others, and by those with no house who rely on demolition to get one. It would be a horrific mess and a pr disaster. Something like this would only happen if -all- content was experiencing massive delays to the point that the player population as a whole would be rapidly running out of reasons to log in.

There is already a lot of drama when SE turn demolition on or off for large-scale real life disasters. I don't even want to imagine how it would be if SE essentially said "we're changing how demolition works to make high end combat players happy".

Then you have to understand, as long as there is things to do in this game, even if you do not like doing it and the likes, then what you propose is never going to happen, as others will keep on playing game or keep active to keep their stuff in other ways, it is tough luck you only like a very small part of the game, but to keep what you got, you have to be in the same boat as everyone else, and just accept that this is how it is.

I don't and 1000s of others is not interested either, that a select few get special treatment, and SE is definately not interested in messing their playerbase up to an open riot either due to this, so just leave it as it is.

    Fair enough.

I never said to stop timers. Also, you're saying that as if I randomly strolled into the forums. This is an exceptional circumstance and I asked to exceptionally consider a change. No one would ask for the same treatment because hopefully, this is the only time this will ever happen.

    1) Thing is, at the end of the day it's up to SE. You can tell me it won't happen until you're blue in the face and I'll keep telling you I'm here to appeal to SE. 2) It's not a small part of the game though. Combat is the core of the game and a huge part of it. In terms of game time, this expansion reduced combat content by about a third compared to last expansion (and that's assuming they're still on track to deliver other content). It's a significant reduction.

    1. SE will never do this, due to then people that play all year around no matter what and actaully is considered the hardcore FFXIV gang feel like they are punished for playing the game, while a small amount of people WHO apparently only play for Savage and Ultimates ONLY be punished, it would end backfireing hard onto SE themself for a good start, if you want to keep your stuff, then you should stay subscribed to the game as it is, it is not like everyone else is paying for your subscription and neither do you for them.
    2. If you feel like you are getting to little 'content' then why do you simply not just pick another game to play?
    3. I don't see why a select few should get special treatment, when for self been paying to play the game ever since I logged in for the first time and never looked back, what you suggest is an unfair advantage towards full time players.
    4. there is absolutely no need to be rude!
