Hit my post limit yesterday, but just wanted to note that I was trying to play along with the joke. Tone just doesn't always carry through the internet.
Then they really should learn not to talk about stuff that they have no idea if they can ever do it. Heck they kind of like to be silent on stuff that they know will not happen just to get the hype still going. When female Vieras were revealed most people still believed that the males would be shown later. And why should they not when all the other races before were complete. People outright asked Yoshida after that fanfest if we will get male Vieras and he was completely secretive about it. He knew at that time that they dont and instead of telling the truth and getting some backlash there they just ignored that which of course hyped up everyone that wanted males and got their hopes up too..which of course came crashing down when Hrothgars were suddenly introduced. It might not have been nice how some people reacted at the beginning of the thread but its completely understandable and its on SE...they could have decided to tell the truth but they wanted to keep up all the hype.
Yoshida is also part of the boards of directors. He is basically at one of the most highest positions in SE. I am not saying that he does not care about the game (he does) but he is also not above outright telling us stuff that we want to hear with no idea if they will do it and sometimes with the knowledge that they wont. And if they do that they deserve any backlash they get because we as the customers who pay them money for a product need the trust. And sadly they sometimes like to play with it to just get more money out of us.
Heck I would be much more happier if they simply told us the harsh truth. No other genders, no real plan to truly give those existing ones constant new hairstyles or fit the hats for them. At least than everyone of us could make their decision. Now its just in a state of limbo.
They never said they possibly couldn't do it. They said it was happening; locked in, pretty much a promise. Unlike if Male Viera or Female Hrothgar would happen or not. Then they really should learn not to talk about stuff that they have no idea if they can ever do it. The hype for male viera was on the community, yoshiP never said it was happening, and with FF lore, we have in fact never actually saw a Male Viera. We can argue and talk circles about that subject yet AGAIN, but at this point its just rehashing a fruitless argument and its quite boring. Look, ill agree that maybe he should have outright said no, or maybe even then, should have just not said anything, cause more and more, it sounds like the backlash isn't so much the genderlock, as it is that people had an inkling of hope they might see male viera because they weren't told "no" Was it marketing or PR, I cant say and I wont pretend it was.
Is it possible that as a Japanese Company they just work differently then American Companies? Just asking, cause this is my 1st real MMO, and which how people talk about SE it sometimes sounds like they think a Japanese company would be run the same as an american company. IDK, I got no frame of reference.
And, if they outright said yes or no but suddenly they can or cant, wouldn't that just create more issues?
- They say they can't and have no plans...but then suddenly they can.
- They Say they can and do have plans, but now suddenly they can't
Either way, this would lead to YoshiP looking like a liar. And that I think would be worse then waiting to hear news when they outright have an answer indefinitely.
Id rather stay in limbo until there is an answer. Not demand and rush an answer. In the meantime, there is alot more going on with the game.
Is it that difficult to say? "Don't expect them because we can't do it right now. However, it is high in our priority list, so, if possible, they will be developed."They never said they possibly couldn't do it. They said it was happening; locked in, pretty much a promise. Even so, the "we can't" excuse is getting stale for some issues with the passing years, but it would just put the matter to rest. At the moment, they are just playing with people's hopes. They 99% know this is a concern in the community and if they don't, they have a serious problem getting in touch with us, considering the amount of likes this thread has.
Anyways, as it has been said, we'll have to wait for the complete notes on the Endwalker expansion, but their behaviour towards players is not always as respectful as it is claimed to be.
Its probly not Difficult to say...but he probably doesn't want to say anything till he knows for certain. Again, there are other things going on with the game, there is a chance at the time he didn't actually have time to explore every option. They can look into it once things are settled down and the schedule is smooth, no need to rush into it and put actual game content on the hold over it.Is it that difficult to say? Saying its a Priority is doing the same thing; setting up expectations. And if they can't deliver for any reason...more backlash.
The general impression that I got is that Yoshi would like to do it, but it's not a priority over the rest of their workload. So he doesn't want to say no, but he can't say yes unless he knows with absolute certainty. And the, well, everything last year didn't help.
I'm wondering what are the chances of this being in the Fan Fest in may?
I'm trying to remember if back when they dropped the Shadowbringers 1st incomplete trailer they revealed the races.
Yoshida and co. made a special point to give Roegadyn and Miqo'te both genders back at the launch of 2.0, now we're not doing that apparently XD Personally I'm not asking for it soon, but it's hard to do something like this and expect people to just accept it and be like "Oh, yeah, one gender" when even Au Ra got 2 genders. Take whatever time you need to make it work, but please do it and give us headgear. The community would be deeply appreciative.
The priority thing was just an example of what he might say. He might as well say it wasn't in their plans. It was a way of showing that if he said "No, but don't be surprised if it happens" there could be no backslash. Except from the usual one that comes every time something new is included. Its probly not Difficult to say...but he probably doesn't want to say anything till he knows for certain. It's a cultural thing as well as a PR one. If you watch how he talks, he very rarely outright says "no" to anything. The priority thing was just an example of what he might say. There may be other examples, but I believe the only times he's ever given a hard no to anything in the game was when people asked if more jobs would split off the same class in the same way as summoner/scholar, and when people were asking to play a warrior of light that's adolescent or a child. Everything else has always been "maybe..."
I don't have much interaction with Japanese businessmen otherwise, but from what I've been told by others, this is normal for someone in his position.
