Relatively large concern about new Healer: Sage

Where exactly are veteran healers asking for healing to be less challenging? Never seen a single person ask for it.
I pray for the opposite because obviously it's not challenging enough that people for some reason think that in every dungeon or raid we somehow take only the tiniest amounts of damage that can be healed by one or two oGCDs. And keep ignoring people that sit at low HP for ages. I would like healers to be forced to actually heal and top people off.

And again, when you see that boosted ASTs don't even know what their cards do, SCHs spamming Succor and WHMs using Cure III instead of Cure II to heal a single target there is a good reason to be concerned about new healers picking up Sage, especially at the beginning when there aren't any tips to be found online.

To be fair you can find these “special” individuals on all rolls and in even high end content. Pretty sure I can get 1 Year of life back cause all these people have actually no clue what they do and want free carry’s. Like a blm dealing 5 k dmg in matoyas or healer actually not healing and only dps. And that’s not even the worst stuff I have seen.

It's a shame Sage won't get a job storyline given they will be back with role quests instead, but at least I think Sages should get some form of intro quests with specific challenge scenarios towards newcome healers.

Being as this is a unique weapon to FFXIV I do think it is a missed opportunity and a shame it will not have a class story.

There will most likely be Lv70-Lv80 job quests for SGE and ???. There are Lv60-Lv70 job quests for DNC and GNB.

Now that I think about it, it's scary that soon we'll have job boosts to level 80..

Thankfully the people who level boost a job to then jump into DF with no idea how to do anything aren't all that common since the boost costs money, and why would you pay money just to get yelled at in a dungeon for being atrociously bad at your job?...Well, I guess some people might be into that.


The let's call it "barrier to entry" with a job that already starts at a high level without having to pay for it however is a lot lower.

Agreed. Completely anecdotal but I remember early ShB dungeons dreading getting a GNB because they seemed to be insanely squishy compared to the other tanks.

This happened before in HW with DRK and AST.

This happened again in ShB with GNB.

I have no doubt it's going to happen with SGE.

There exist so many players in this game that have 1) no idea how to play and 2) don't want to learn how to properly play.

This is a multiplayer game people, of course there’s going to be people who don’t have any clue what they’re doing trying this new healer, it’s a matter of population. Only way to mitigate this would be to make having another healer at 70, and even then that wouldn’t guarantee you’d get someone who knows what they’re doing and not some curebot who doesn’t know how to min max dps and heals. Hell, if someone with any sense gets the job, the very first real thing they’re gonna do is go to a striking dummy and try out the job, getting a feel for it, so that should help too.

Also, try playing ranked feast if you wanna see some truly awful healers, I’ve never been so enraged at FF14 while playing as a ranged DPS in the feast.
