Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I cant even begin to imagine the absolute outrage if there ae female hrotgar and male viera npcs but they arent playable. Unless stated otherwise, if we see them as npcs its pretty likely it does mean we get them

Not necessarily true when FFXI released Lehko Habhoka who is a male mirtha as an npc yes the players wanted the male mirthra as playable but when it turned out they would not be playable we XI players did not rage, disapointed yes but were happy we finally got to see one.

Are you trying to incite the mob?? Kidding, but as cool as that sounds I would much rather they release another Ivalice game that heavily features a male viera if they go that route. Hell, I would rather that happened BEFORE they ever come to 14. Flesh them out, give us something to have fan service for. One of the reasons I didn't much blink at au ra was because they were new and had nothing substantial behind them. This changed in HW, but the rollout reception was lukewarm for me.

Just remember that FFXI had one male mithra as an NPC Lehko Habhoka after years of the mithra race being female only, there was no mob then lol, yes the XI players were disapointed they couldn't play as a male ( because in lore the males were rare and hidden away by the females ) but they gave us one because we wanted to at least see one.

You got your response months ago straight from yohiP. They cannot do it right now with out significant changes to the system that they have no current plans for. What more evidence do you need?

While I understand no one is currently insulting the devs what I'm referring to is what happened with the release of ShB. Where this entire forum was filled with vile insults and threats to the dev team just because one one race not having a male option. I am simply asking that you all do not repeat this again when you finally realize it isn't happening

Could you please post the source? As far as Im recall, when he was aske din an interview he just said 'we cant say anything right now, we are trying our best' which to me is very far from confirmign theyre not coming. Anyways, I higly doubt that you can provide a source for it but if you can, it would be great to see where he states 'we are not planning for male viera and female hrotgar yet', until then, let people ask about them and stop defending the devs from anything, you will not get paid and the only thing people are doing on this thread currently is discuss about the possibly most higly requested feature ever in the game, abotu its likelyhood and implementation

FFXI was a very different game with a very different community on a very different time when things like forums (or the internet in general) werent nearly as active as they are now. If they released NPCS of the missing genders without making them playable, there would probably be even more outrage than in 5.0's announcement, which is quite likely the biggest outrage in the game's history since 1.0 released as far as I'm concerned, so if they cant add them I truly expect them to not add an NPC with their models

Yes, which is why the wouldnt add a missing genders npc without it likely being a hint to their release, proabbly even a confirmation that they are working on them, not that theyd add them if they have no intentions of ever releasing them

No, it's really more to do with what WhiteArchmage said. I'm not even the most diehard "pls add malebuns" person, because there's other priorities I'd like fulfilled first.

I do agree with you.
On the other hand, it's also something I've wanted for two years.
I've really, really wanted to change. I had my hopes high in the first release.
Then they said it was gender locked, and the forums created the largest thread in the game's history in hopes of changing that.

And it will give the dev team a lot more money. Fantasia potions are straight-up lucrative real-life cash.

And that funding can be used to allocate to other resources that we want.

Important stuff that we all want in this game. Meaningful content. And permit more personnel hiring and budgeting.

I see this as win/win/win/win/win.

I kinda like how the outrage back towards 5.0 is kinda being swept under the rug, and its almost talked about like it never happened whenever somebody references it.

The comments they made about reworking how the healers work sound like they're going to cause a lot of anxiety and probably controversy once the details are known.

Honestly, I love the Concept of these are Pure Healers, and these are Shield Healers. It separates the 4 Classes right in the middle and establishes their playstyles.
Now, the only thing Im worried about is the new Meta and Raider Mentality. Because people will always believe "Healers are suppose to DPS" and Sage and Scholar (assuming they get their attacks back) will become required for Progression. Leaving Wht & Ast (especially if they dont get stronger support skills back) players behind.


But maybe with the "Decreasing Number Values" maybe hardcore raiders will take a chill pill.
But now that I think about.....maybe the new meta will be 1 shield and one pure.....I think that would make sense.
