Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

You know at this point if they are not giving us male viera or female hrotgar as playable can we at least have them as npcs? I mean if FFXI did it with the one lone male mithra I'm sure FFXIV can have npc's of them.

I cant even begin to imagine the absolute outrage if there ae female hrotgar and male viera npcs but they arent playable. Unless stated otherwise, if we see them as npcs its pretty likely it does mean we get them

Not necessarily true when FFXI released Lehko Habhoka who is a male mirtha as an npc yes the players wanted the male mirthra as playable but when it turned out they would not be playable we XI players did not rage, disapointed yes but were happy we finally got to see one.

FFXI was a very different game with a very different community on a very different time when things like forums (or the internet in general) werent nearly as active as they are now. If they released NPCS of the missing genders without making them playable, there would probably be even more outrage than in 5.0's announcement, which is quite likely the biggest outrage in the game's history since 1.0 released as far as I'm concerned, so if they cant add them I truly expect them to not add an NPC with their models

Wasn't it said at one point in this thread that people would be Happy to see NPCs, because it means "The Missing Genders" are being worked on?

Yes, which is why the wouldnt add a missing genders npc without it likely being a hint to their release, proabbly even a confirmation that they are working on them, not that theyd add them if they have no intentions of ever releasing them

Making one model with one set of armor requires all but a small fraction of work that goes into making a fully playable and module with armor model.

Having a NPC would be something and I would be all for it.

Yeah but as much as you wouldb e all for it you have to consider that as far as I'm aware, you have no intentions on playing male viera nor a neccesarily high desire for their inclusion. In regard to the players who do feel strongly for whatver reason about them, having them be in the game but not playable would feel like a spit in the face, or salt in the wound, like 'Ok guys I know you cant play them but just LOOK HOW COOL THEY ARE!' so I am very esceptical they would ever do something along those lnes, espcially considering whenevr weve seen an npc of a enw requested or hinted race (yugiri and fran) the race has then been added

Not going to lie that sounds like a personal issue regarding expectations over anything else. That being said if they were a manlet or bigchungus I would play as one in a heartbeat. Either way if they add an NPC I will welcome it since I am curious as to what their vision is.

I do see your point I just cant imagine people wouldnt react like that. Personally, to me, it would be a double edged blade, since we would know what they are but we would see them yet not be able to *be* them. Overall, afer seeing the disaster the hrotgar reveal was, I would bet theyre quite catious regarding this topic, so if they add them as an npc its likely theyll state its only an npc thing before hand
