Thanks. I find the leaf symbol that denotes I'm new doesn't express how I want to play the dungeon and recent experience has been a "keep up" or "learn your job properly and learn it's rotation" from hard core players when I might want to spam just one heal spell if it gets the job done and no one dies. I can of course understand the frustration because what is in it for the hard-core player waiting for me when as you said most will want to rush but that's because presently there is no reward for them not to rush...

Because at level 71, you aren't "new" in the sense spamming a single heal is really acceptable. By that point, you should have a general understanding of your kit and work to contribute just as much as everyone else. Put another way, would you feel okay if the DPS spammed one button instead of their proper rotation? You'll still eventually clear any dungeon, it'll just take upwards of an hour if everyone else played that way. None of this is a "hardcore" mentality either. It's the standard expectation people have once you approach higher level content.

As for rushing ahead. No amount of "new player" tag will change the standard mentality of blitzing through dungeons. You have to appreciate for many of us, we're running these dungeons for the hundredth time. Not to mention, if everyone else wants a faster run. It's a bit unreasonable to expect three people should acquiesce to what one wants.

    Hi Davand,

I think there's maybe a misunderstanding here that you might not have thought about and I'd like to add this to the conversation to maybe help you understand.

First of all, play the game however you want. But pleast read the below and have a think about it.

When I play tank, I am expected to hold aggro. To do so, I require pressing a number of buttons consistantly to hold aggro from my party so they do not get attacked by the mobs. This means, I generally need to press a button every GCD (Global Cool Down) which is around 2.5 Seconds (I think).

So every 2.5 seconds, my party expects me to be pressing a button.

When I play DPS, I am expected to kill mobs in a reasonable time. I have many DMG skills as well as a large number of off global cool down skills.

At bare minimum, I am expected to press a button every 2.5 seconds.

So when I see healers, who choose to only heal, in content that does not require a Cure every 2.5 seconds, it frustrates me.

I can't remember a time in dungeons (from levels 15-80), where unless the tank is mass pulling or has bad gear AND doesn't use cool downs properly, I've needed to heal them every 2.5 seconds. Ever. 7+ Years of playing this game.

Why should I as a DPS/TANK put more effort into a dungeon than another player in terms of minimum effort to get a dungeon run?

Why you should you, as a healer, be allowed to do not even quarter of the amount of button pressing (work) in a dungeon compared to the other 3 people? In addition to this, you're now adding more work onto other players because you are not assisting with the basic requirement of the dungeon: killing mobs, killing bosses.

Sure, you could argue, "but I am keeping the tank alive and doing my job" and sure.

But technically, as a DPS, I could not use any skills and just auto-attack and mobs will take a very very very very very long time to die but "I'm doing my job". I've seen DPS get kicked for just auto-attacking mobs.

Imagine if the tank only did half their job and then decided they've held aggro for long enough and stop pressing buttons and then you and the DPS die?

This is my point. It's not about you being a "heal only healer" it's that FFXIV doesn't have the type of content that fully supports "heal only" content - which means anyone who partakes in this kind of thinking if doing it selfishly and to no-one elses benefit. Literally no one benefits from players who act like this.

Anyway, play how you want but as much as it is YOUR RIGHT to play a heal only healer, people have the same right to react to selfish behaviour.
