Hmm... Well, to be honest, I'm kinda hoping it wraps up soon.
I'm not so much "tired" of the ascian story as I am excited about the prospect of something different and new.

Fandaniel mentioned the "Telopheroi" so they could maybe be new group we'll have to face. I'm just hoping the members will be a bit more diverse and not composed of disgruntled former Ascians.
No, this would be the best possible case as we would be able to finish off the remaining Ascians in one expansion. If the only Ascian in 6.0 is Fandaniel there will be too many of them still on the loose.

On the other hand, having a few Ascians left alive would allow for more Gaia-esque situations. I could see one or two being disillusioned by the way things have gone and choosing to throw their lot in with us instead of Fandaniel and/or Zodiark.
That said, three trials and a solo duty would probably be enough to completely deal with the remaining Ascians aside from Fandaniel. I'd say that would be a bit monotonous, but I'm fairly confident they can make things interesting if they go that route.

Agreed.
I would also be interested in seeing some Ascians survive the end of Zodiark.
It would be fun and interesting to see how they would deal with that, how it would change them.
Exactly, it's like they do not know any other good stories to writeI've been tired of them since they first appeared, after so many expansions more than ever. At least before it wasn't all about them, but now that it comes out that "every bad thing ever? ascians were behind it. When you got bullied in school? Also ascians. " it's just so two-dimensional that it's sad. I guess it will be even worse with 6.0, but hopefully we'll focus on something else completely different after that.
And I agree with 5.4 Limsa plot, things like that are actually more interesting, more slice of life and less deus ex machina. Probably why I like SB so much.
The Ascian story is pretty much done. A running theme from the shared Ascian/Garlean story is that both groups were big proponents of the ends justifying the means for their goals. No act was seen as dire or treacherous enough to have them reach their somewhat sympathetic goal (returning the world they knew and the lives lost/uniting the world to its "original being" and overthrowing the Ascians).
However, the "visionaries" behind these goals are all gone now (Lahabrea, Emet-Selch, Elidibus, Varis), the ends no longer reachable. All that's left are the "means", Zenos, a beast of a man who only cares about a last hunt that will probably destroy the planet, and Fandaniel, a sundered Ascian that seeks to end his life by taking everything with it. It would fit the poem given at the end of the year of those ignorant of those before them, as Zenos and Fandaniel clearly do not care about what those who came before had planned.
So now, the villains chickens are coming home to roost, and we'll have to reap what they've sown. I believe, with the understanding that 2.0 to 6.0 encompasses a single story, we're in the equivalent of beaten those who set the plot in motion, like Shinra, Hojo, and JENOVA in FF7 or Seymour and Yu Yevon in FF10, and now we're poised to defeat the monsters they created, Sephiroth in FF7 or Sin in FF10.
We'll probably have to deal with whatever caused the final days of Amaurot in the future if they want to keep the big overarching story, but I think as far as the Ascians they'll probably be past tense after the next expansion story wraps up.
I am glad the Ascian story is finally ending in 6.0 to 6.3. Their story had its run and it was getting very stale at this point when everything and anything will always be "because it was the Ascians" through the entire Season 1 storyline.
Though there is certainly the question what will become of the Scions now their long mission to defeating the Ascians is over after 6.3 but that is something we will learn once we reach 6.4 and beyond. After all, the end of the Ascians also means the end of many other things such as the Scions long time goals, the long journey the WoL has made him/her the Hero of this story that started out as mere coincidence and chance encounter with certain people (though we learn in 5.X it was all orchestrated by Elidibus), and etc.

I dunno. I mean I like what they did with the Eden storyline where yes - those may have been their former selves but with the main three gone: it's a matter of will if the reborn are going to do the same thing.
There's still some curiosities with how did 3 of them escape the sundering as well.
Clearly, the answer should be a time skip of a few months/years that results in things changing enough to where new political threats have appeared that we will band together to defeat. For the Scions at this point are basically the world's peacekeeping force, and for the world to be at peace will require people to not be people. But since people are people, the struggle never ends.Though there is certainly the question what will become of the Scions now their long mission to defeating the Ascians is over after 6.3 but that is something we will learn once we reach 6.4 and beyond.
