I think RPer's are people that those who couldn't make the schools drama/theater (because you have USA in your location you are not british, please use the correct spelling for your location.) club or plays. So they go and subject people to their bad "acting" through text. They choose to "act" in text and from a character in a game because they can't act in real life.

I would say RPer's in the realm of acting are lower than clowns/mimes.

You can't get nitpicky over the spelling of theater. Both are used, even within the U.S.

It's like canceling with one L versus cancellation with the two Ls.

Anyhew, I get the feeling more you want to provoke people into action for kicks and giggles more than you want to genuinely understand and come to an amicable resolution about this.

Also its nothing like canceling and cancellation as they are two different words.

I think you mean canceling vs cancelling and again unless you are british and using british english( and to point out being british and wanting to be british are different things) it is spelled with 1 L

There is no difference in meaning between theater and theatre. Neither has any special definitions. Theater is the """preferred""" spelling in American English, and theatre is preferred virtually everywhere else.

Preferred: Like (one thing or person) better than another or others; tend to choose: "I prefer Venice to Rome".

Kind sir, I would like to point you in the direction of post number 63

'Roleplayers' as a whole? No. They're not terrible, wierd deviants at all. They are a subculture. And like any other subculture, the few bad/wierd/ect spoil it for everyone. You can't really say deviant behavior does not exist in the community, because it does. All over the place.

While some people are perfectly acceptable/tolerant, others aren't, or are going to hate-blast the entire culture as a whole for their bad encounter with a few. Can't really do anything about that, aside from don't shove your culture down someone elses throat. There's plenty of sub cultures I would not want to see thrown into my face on a regular basis.

I don't like /say rp. I can't personally do it, because I find it rude. I don't want to spam the rest of the population currently in a location with my in character conversation. And if I need to, I keep my conversation mild and short winded, or ask if we can move. I prefer to keep my roleplaying within the roleplaying friendly linkshell that I have, unless I'm taking part in an event that's out of the way, as to not offend.

Edit: Derp, I misread the last part. I didn't see you were originally striking out at Brigandier. However! I would like to touch on something about the whole idea some people do have that 'we're just acting/whatever'. (and something on Brigandiers post after mine) If they wanted to see a play, they'd go to the proper places to see one. I don't think it's fair to the general server community to force them to see a play they didn't ask to see. Now, if you want to advertise a specific roleplay-friendly event somewhere that's not smack dab in the middle of Ul'dah (for example, in front of the Ul'dah Aetheryte Plaza) or some other heavily populated area, and you get heavy backlash, then sure, I can understand getting upset.

    You gentle clod,

I'd prefer if you'd use the preferred version for your region.

    Good Day!

    SONICCCC BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!
Here's where I was going with canceling and cancellation. I have never read a "cancelation policy" in the U.S. It has always been cancellation with TWO L's. Why is this supposed British spelling being used in all these documents for cancellation. Yet, canceled and canceling is a single L in American English with acceptable British spellings of cancelled and cancelling?

And theatre is an acceptable spelling even in the U.S. You can thank AMC Theatres (American Multi-Cinema) for spreading the U.S. spelling for nearly one hundred years.

    We've gotten way off-topic here...

On-topic: Your opinion of the motives and history of RP'ers has been noted. I disagree, but noted.
