%uck you OP. I happen to actually LIKE Lyse and think she's hated unfairly. Her jacket is the best in the game alone with her over all first design with the short shorts. I wish she kept that outfit. And all I'mma say is at least she DID shit. Yeah she fail alot but what did you expect? They all can't be boringly perfect like everyone's fav do nothing Emleric. At least Lyse had an arc.. was it perfect.. ofcourse not but that's people in real life. Not perfect. honestly she was the best side character in stormblood in my opinion. Samurai what's his face was a loser who didn't do anything until WE went and fixed things for him. Some leader.... But Lyse is the problem. Yeah ok fanbase.

I have to ask...what did she do exactly? She went on some soul search with the WoL and her bestie Alisae and accomplished little to nothing. Guess who helped take back Doma? Not her. She went back home after that and was promoted to the leader of the rebellion because reasons, and did little to nothing to take back Ala Mhigo (throwing a few punches at Fordola and following us up to the Menagerie after we did all the work doesn't count) but was more than willing to take up a leadership role for which she had no experience in (still has none by the way). She also said "let's summon the Ananta that still really hate us for a peace summit. Let's just sit in a circle on the floor and talk it all out. It'll be fine!" Spoilers: it wasn't fine. They attacked, which anyone who wasn't her should have seen coming a mile away. And since then...she has still done next to nothing except "I talk to people. Yay me!". How is that an interesting character? Cool outfits are nice and all, but if that is most of her appeal...then she's a poorly written character.

What did ANYONE do but us as the WOL? This is why I will never understand the hate she gets but every one of the pretty boys gets all this love from. WE do ALL the work. US. None of them do anything and Lyse made one mistake with the primal thot... I chalk that up to plot. Just like us being told to throw the eyes of nigghog off the cliff by what's his face. Hmm noone seems to bring THAT up tho huh and that was way stupidier then Lyse. Cause at least We the WOL was there to handle the issue.. and we did. And again, she was learning. She wasn't posed to be perfect. Unlike everyone else who is set up as these pretty mr know it alls but still end up ccrying for the WOL to do their work cause they can't fix their own problems.

I don't think Lyse was well-written overall, but I'm tired of this scene being held up as a example of her incompetence because she wasn't at fault in the way everyone seems to remember it.

She* invited every tribe in the region, because if she didn't then it would have been politically awkward and they probably would have taken offence and become more hostile.

* (I'm not sure that it was her personal decision who to invite, anyway.)

Additionally, the expected outcome was that the Qalyana would refuse the invitation anyway, so it caught everyone by surprise when they actually arrived - and would have been even more politically awkward to refuse to let them participate at that point. This wasn't a single-handed decision by Lyse, but supported by Raubahn.

They also didn't simply trust the Qalyana, but treated them as suspicious and took precautions to ban them from bringing crystals into the chamber, specifically to prevent them from being able to conduct a summoning if that was the intent. They just failed to consider the possibility that crystals had been planted in the room already by sympathetic, tempered Resistance members.

That was just one example, really, not THE example. Her incompetence was felt throughout the entirety of the Stormblood MSQ. I was just using one of the more notable events that comes to my mind. It wasn't entirely her doing but she still had a hand in it. But yeah, she wasn't written very well. This isn't limited to Lyse, sadly. Many characters are poorly written. Lyse just annoys me the most. lol Part of the problem is that she basically materialized out of thin air and didn't really have much character development since her reveal, yet she somehow ended up in a leadership role in the end. She didn't change at all during the entire story of Stormblood. There was no baptism by fire, although I think that is what they were trying to do but ultimately failed. She was just thrown into it and seemingly learned very little. To this day, she remains next to useless.

Guided us to and gave us an in road with the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Fought Fordola and the Imperials, as well as Zenos, preventing more deaths at Rhalgr's Reach. Traveled with us to the Far East, and helped us gain the allegiance of the Confederacy in the Ruby Sea, while also holding off myriad Red Kojin while we slew Susano.

Helped free Doman citizens from the yoke of Imperial slavery before they could be shipped to Castrum Fluminis, inspiring them to stand up for themselves.

Participated in the Naadam, helping to secure the allegiance of the Xaela tribes which were instrumental to taking back Doma.

Lead a diversionary force to Castrum Fluminis to divert some of the Imperial forces around Doma Castle.

Once back in Eorzea, she fought on the front lines to take the bridge across the southern part of the Velodyna river. Did scouting for the Resistance/Alliance along with the WoL.

She was made leader of the Resistance due to her family name, on top of having a personal relationship with the leaders of foreign nations(Eorzean alliance and Hien/Doma). It was a solid choice by a dying man, even if she's not the best leader, she has advisors and assistants to help her, while having the necessary personal/political sway necessary in medieval society.

She saw that Ananta problem, and she rectified it by bringing Fordola to battle, and then risked her soul on fighting Lakshmi alongside us.

You could at least be honest about what she's done. I will concede that she's not the best Scion ever, but she was very active in the story, and for me she was about as effective as any other Scion would have been, had another been chosen to fill her shoes. Though the only one that would have made sense was already in Hydaelyn's BDSM torture dungeon/stopping the Flood of Light on the First... so there really was no other Ala Mhigan major Scion that had upfront ties to Ala Mhigo.
