Lyse and Zenos being mentioned in the same sentence reminds me of those theories that used to run around that she'd end up being Zenos. At least if they'd done that, they'd have wrapped up two mistakes into one.




I'm not sure I'd call him terribly written, either, in the sense that I wouldn't blame the person writing him. I'm sure they're doing the best they can with the material they have. However, his presence past Stormblood feels forced, and while I get what they're trying to do with him, I just don't care for it (or him.) I'm just eager to move past him. Hopefully Fandaniel will overtake him and we can move onto something more gripping than either of them.

I wouldn't rule out Fandaniel yet. I see people are already worried he'll be a shallow character and I get it but we're in the late MSQ of Shadowbringers now. This time in Stormblood I was very "meh" about Solus zos Galvus but Shadowbringers proper turned me around on him in a huge way. Fandy may have depth we haven't seen yet.

My concern isn't so much about Fandaniel. At least there's scope to do something interesting with him, without it feeling forced, like connecting him to the ultimate cause of the final days. Does he interest me as much as the unsundered Ascians? No, not really. TBF, I never really had such a concern with Solus, probably because I've always thought there was quite a bit more to the Ascian agenda. But my hope is that Fandaniel will tie into whatever instigated Amaurot's fall, be it some cosmic horror, ancient deity or some death cult, or something similar.
