Nah, I like him, he's alright. And his one-sided crush towards my character is entertaining, hahaha.

As for Lyse, she's alright, although I completely do not understand why do they have to put that Yda is actually Lyse storyline, I mean it is unnecessarily convoluted and just kinda stupid.

I love Lyse; she came across as someone innocent and pure, and she tried so hard to do things right all the time. I appreciated that.

Note that I play the game in Japanese, and I'm pretty sure that plays a big role here because the Lyse I know wasn't "angry and loud" like someone else is saying (???).

PS: I don't find any sort of interest on Zenos. In fact I don't find any sort of interest on stories and characters that are merely related to "fighting", "being powerful", and "more fighting", and Zenos is 100% about that.

I'mma just say this. My over all point is if Lyse gets hate because of plot being stupid because lets face it... that was PLOT. And honestly... think about who we're talking about here. She was always that dumb. Don't act like Eda was the smartest character in the cast in ARR people. OFCOURSE she'd try to hold a meeting to try to stop the fighting and summoning of primals. Because at that point she was looking for anything to work. Noone believed it would even you/us. That's why we were there btw to handle the problem if it happened to become a problem. And in that one thing everyone calls out... techinally we all failed that one. Because they had people uncover which WE didn't even see. So everyone failed that. Not just Lyse. Everyone!

Hien pretty much is no better, what did he do before we came there and fixed his problems? Sit on a hill and hide for years? great leader I guess. He didn't do anything to prove he's any better. And he's just as stupid. Lets believe the evil brother trying to trade with us and when the WOL says not to trust him what does he say? " don't worry about it" Shit atleast Lyse can show the native card. What's Hien's excuse not taking out advice huh? Plot is your only answer. Had we not came to Hien's hill his people will all be dead, he would not have won the mini fight contest for the mol - the WOL won that thank you - He'd not got his castle back and XIV's japan would still be uncontrol of the empire. So if Lyse gets hate cause she did nothing then you have to hate all the NPCs because they all fall under the same issue. They do nothing unless plot says so.. and most of the time plot says WE gotta fix it. So who does anything but us?

Guided us to and gave us an in road with the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Fought Fordola and the Imperials, as well as Zenos, preventing more deaths at Rhalgr's Reach. Traveled with us to the Far East, and helped us gain the allegiance of the Confederacy in the Ruby Sea, while also holding off myriad Red Kojin while we slew Susano.

Helped free Doman citizens from the yoke of Imperial slavery before they could be shipped to Castrum Fluminis, inspiring them to stand up for themselves.

Participated in the Naadam, helping to secure the allegiance of the Xaela tribes which were instrumental to taking back Doma.

Lead a diversionary force to Castrum Fluminis to divert some of the Imperial forces around Doma Castle.

Once back in Eorzea, she fought on the front lines to take the bridge across the southern part of the Velodyna river. Did scouting for the Resistance/Alliance along with the WoL.

She was made leader of the Resistance due to her family name, on top of having a personal relationship with the leaders of foreign nations(Eorzean alliance and Hien/Doma). It was a solid choice by a dying man, even if she's not the best leader, she has advisors and assistants to help her, while having the necessary personal/political sway necessary in medieval society.

She saw that Ananta problem, and she rectified it by bringing Fordola to battle, and then risked her soul on fighting Lakshmi alongside us.

You could at least be honest about what she's done. I will concede that she's not the best Scion ever, but she was very active in the story, and for me she was about as effective as any other Scion would have been, had another been chosen to fill her shoes. Though the only one that would have made sense was already in Hydaelyn's BDSM torture dungeon/stopping the Flood of Light on the First... so there really was no other Ala Mhigan major Scion that had upfront ties to Ala Mhigo.

Well, in the end this just turned into a topic for people to discuss their opinions on the characters which isn't a bad thing and it's interesting to see how different people view the same character.

I liked Zenos in StB, but he feels out of place in ShB, being dragged along with a plot that doesn't quite match him. The incredibly strong character who just likes fighting for the sake of fighting can work well for a bit of character variety, but doesn't really suit a main position in a grand plot that affects the fate of multiple worlds. He would have worked better as more of a side character who hunts us down for fights and is a bit of a loose cannon rather than being tangled with Ascians and Zodiark.

Lyse wasn't my favorite character, but at least she was memorable enough for me to care when she showed up again in 5.4.

Can't say the same for that elezen girl from HW. She was so dull and forgettable.

I really like Zenos too, but I think he has been misused.

Zenos is at his most interesting when he is being cunning and intellectual. Not when he is being used as a brute.

I also like how he is a wild card. He doesn't care about money or power or ideals. He just wants to have an exhilarating fight. So he can throw in a wrench in otherwise predictable plots.

Unfortunately, he hasn't really been used that way, because...

The main problem with Zenos is that he hasn't really done anything since 5.0's ending. He's spent the last 3 patches lounging in a chair staring menacingly while someone else stands in front of him expositing the plot. It's also very out of character for Zenos. He should have either been trying to find a way to pursue the WoL to the First, or he should have been travelling the world trying to find powerful beings like Hraesvelgr and Tiamat to fight, or he should have been trying to uncover the mystery of his dreams.

I understand that they didn't want Zenos doing any big, plot important stuff while the WoL was away on the First, and that they wanted the story to focus on Emet and Elidibus, and having Zenos doing big stuff would take away from that, but still.

Looking forward to him in 6.0.
