Most of the crashing is thanks to the bots, not real players. They will vigorously undercut each other because they don't really care. Their time is free.

Only if you care about such things. In a game, not everyone does.
Bots also have to compete with each other. The opportunity cost for them is tiny since there can be a large amount of them doing it and still be more profitable than other means like dungeon spamming or mob looting.

The DoL bots are already back so I'm not surprised the market is so volatile.

If you've been playing for years and have cared at *all* about crafting, you already have several dozen times more gil than you could *ever* spend, even if you were intentionally trying to go bankrupt.
So gathering becomes completely pointless, and the only reason to craft is so that it's *your* name on the pieces you wear for a few weeks, until they can be replaced.

As much as I tend to assume the DoH bots are in it for RMT purposes, I can't help but think some do it simply for the reason you mentioned; because having their character's name on everything gives them some kind of awkward satisfaction.

Sometimes I see people sell an item for less than what an NPC would give you. Is it really too much of a bother to press down like twice and choose to sell stuff through your retainer?? I don't understand. lol

What if some crafters don't care about money and are "helping" people gear up faster by selling for a reasonable price ? Crazy that it would not be all about money I know.

Never said it was. Just think it’s funny when people start saying supply and demand and telling people with economics degree they don’t know how economies work.

There’s a lot of similarities though. The biggest difference is in real life stupid people go bust and have to stop trading.

Then they should do that off the market board. They are ‘helping’ one player by hindering everyone else.

But we all know there's no justifiable reason easily farmable materials should be 8k a piece aside from the initial rush.
That’s a great solution if everyone does that. But when half of the sellers will immediately match or undercut the lowest price, you need to spend a lot to put it right. And it only takes one person to drag it down again. Becomes too much of a gamble.

And there’s absolutely a reason that those items should be 8k... which is that the items being made with them are selling for 1 million plus.

It’s going backwards.. it should work that the demand for the crafted item lessens, which makes the demand for the crafting item lessen. To reduce the price of the crafting item while the crafted item is still selling well is just stupid. And neither price should drop by 90 percent in 12 hours.
