But we all know there's no justifiable reason easily farmable materials should be 8k a piece aside from the initial rush.
That’s a great solution if everyone does that. But when half of the sellers will immediately match or undercut the lowest price, you need to spend a lot to put it right. And it only takes one person to drag it down again. Becomes too much of a gamble.

And there’s absolutely a reason that those items should be 8k... which is that the items being made with them are selling for 1 million plus.

It’s going backwards.. it should work that the demand for the crafted item lessens, which makes the demand for the crafting item lessen. To reduce the price of the crafting item while the crafted item is still selling well is just stupid. And neither price should drop by 90 percent in 12 hours.

Yeah, no, this is a bad argument.

Why are the items crafter by it so expensive? Because they use expensive materials, one would wonder. Just look at Stormblood savage weaponry like Tsukuyomi's set consistently selling for a solid 2-3 mil because the material only drops from a trial where you need to put effort into obtaining it. Even then, said material is often sold for more than the actual weaponry crafted with it, because the player themselves can choose what to put it to. In that sense, actually, the material is worth more than the weapon.

Turn that around and, if there is such a huge pricegap between material and weapon (even 8k compared to 1mil) then you'd assume the material you're talking about, in question, is super easy to obtain in comparison. Really, it's almost a non-factor to the price of the crafted item at the end. A really valuable material will often cost around the same as the items you craft with it, and if not, then said material barely affects its pricerange. Unless, of course, the item is composed of rather cheap materials... which would also mean it sells cheaply on the MB.

So an item selling for 1 mil doesn't automatically mean all its crafting components should be that expensive as well. If anything, the components being so cheap should show you're better off going to get it yourself rather than buying it at all to begin with, unless it's a bargain bin price like 500 gil.
