A bit of a rant about Make It Rain and All Saints Wake

Anyone else annoyed that the same day we get an event will no substantial rewards they went and dropped more over price glamours in the Mogstation? Like they don't have time to make any rewards yet they some how are right on track with Mogstation drops? Maybe they should have added the new items to this event since the were unable to make anything else.

The Sharlayan Prodigy's suit model has been in game since 2.0. The Player Character wearable version was likely finished back in March just like this year's MIR event was and was likely going to be added to the Mogstation along with the Senor Sabotender emote back when 5.3X was original scheduled for the summer. More likely than not, there would have been another mog station exclusive item added in 5.4 with the Halloween stuff if things had not been delayed.

I'm normally not one for big complaints and I know about the Pandemic. Yet, they stated their reasoning for holding Make it Rain over All Saint's Wake to be because the former was mostly finished as an Event at that point. But really, the Quest was short, bland, and most characters spoke only 1-2 simple sentences. Even for Gold Saucer Events that one felt really rushed and meh.

I don't want to be ungrateful for getting content in a Pandemic, I guess I just... had higher hopes.

This year's quest which gives you a question mark is just basically a guide to the saucer. If you repeat the quest, which has an un-skippable event and is just a guide, then it only gives 100 mgp.

The person who starts the quest is the person you helped last year, and of course there is the ever present Roland. The repeatable quest is not really intended for mgp grinding, there are much more profitable methods. Your reward is the scenes with the different characters. It's a variation on the repeatable quest from other events and each character greets you differently depending on if you know them or not. It would have been nice if there was more variation. Each person has one good and two bad options, and there are only 3 final results (all good, all bad, mixed).

Whether you like the story or not, this is a typical Make it Rain and definately more work than last year's which had no repeatable quest. The focus is always on drawing attention to the GS.

I don't think it has anything to do with the pandemic, pretty sure they caught up and were only 2 weeks behind schedule a few weeks ago and had a week long break. So 3 weeks behind now? But that has nothing to do with events. They already have events, they already have prizes, they can simply turn on an old event / use an old quest and call it new. I appreciate how FF14 does new events rather than recycling an old one twice a month like other MMORPGs but if they are genuinely behind schedule and for whatever reason can't grow a bigger team to support the growing fanbase (Squenix is a small indie company), then they could at the very least bring back an old event with old prizes. The haunted manor was just for glam and RP. There were no prizes which is a shame because like many others I subbed for October specifically for this event since it's usually the best of the year. T__T But, it is what it is.

As a new player im super pissed off that i wont be able to buy a single halloween item seeing as i dont have any holiday items right now and apparently never will now. Its literally my favorite event in every video game and i usually stock up on halloween stuff. This kinda just ruins the game a little for me. I know theres tons of other stuff to do in this game, but this is seriously depressing me. Especially knowing its going to continue through xmas too. I pay a sub every month and they couldnt be bothered to copy paste old game code in for us new players to enjoy the old holiday content? This is a HORRIBLE business move, when they know that Shadowbringers and the increased free trial just brought in millions of new players. This combined with the disaster that was new additional housing. Hope theyre prepared to start losing subscribers

Either that or trying to wind this game down for some reason. There are definitely some questions on the amount of content we get compared to the attention there was in the past that need answers.

It's odd. I expected 5.3 to be a major turning point for the game with some big surprises. Things had been winding down for a while already to the point where it felt like they were doing stuff in the background in secret but we definitely seem to be getting less content, released more sparingly and designed to either be consumed quickly or involve a major grind. I'd consider the missing genders to be one of the first signs that something wasn't quite right.

Part of me is still cautiously optimistic that 6.0 is going to shake things up considerably, though it's still a way off. I don't feel it's unreasonable to expect more than what we're getting, though. ESO has very meaty content patches, WoW is set to launch an expansion soon and recently updated its character customisation options - which is something FFXIV players have requested for years, now. I believe some other MMO recently 'relaunched' with a new coat of paint, too.
