Either that or trying to wind this game down for some reason. There are definitely some questions on the amount of content we get compared to the attention there was in the past that need answers.
It's odd. I expected 5.3 to be a major turning point for the game with some big surprises. Things had been winding down for a while already to the point where it felt like they were doing stuff in the background in secret but we definitely seem to be getting less content, released more sparingly and designed to either be consumed quickly or involve a major grind. I'd consider the missing genders to be one of the first signs that something wasn't quite right.
Part of me is still cautiously optimistic that 6.0 is going to shake things up considerably, though it's still a way off. I don't feel it's unreasonable to expect more than what we're getting, though. ESO has very meaty content patches, WoW is set to launch an expansion soon and recently updated its character customisation options - which is something FFXIV players have requested for years, now. I believe some other MMO recently 'relaunched' with a new coat of paint, too.
Even Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 launched their annual halloween event WITH new and old content.
A surprise couple extra wards would be cool and welcomed to add on top I suppose. Would love to see my sister get a house.

I am happy they let us go to the haunted house again and part of me hopes they'll keep the Genial Guiser in the Gold Saucer year round and add on mini games to the house going forward. However that's about the only thing I'm excited for... I'd rather have had a full Halloween event.
I am on a break right now and if that is all that we get with this event than this is just horrible. Yes Corona happened, so I guess we cant get a story line and not a whole Halloween event itself but why not introduce at least a couple of new items? You put so much stuff behind Ishgard or Bozja but not a single new item for the event?
Thats just sad.
Yeah I honestly wonder that too. Is everyone really just that behind with Covid that they cant even create a handful of new items? Maybe even some items that already existed ingame and can be reused for it with a touch of halloween...or is Covid only used to hide behind it..especially if its true what others said and MMOs like WoW had barely any delay...

Can people just chill. To start, they informed us about the events cancelation, so we knew not to expect much. We know that XIV is planned out far in advance for a lot of things, and several things are being worked on congruently. We know that the pandemic is a major cause of the delay, but any business is only going to share the public aspects they are dealing with, we have no idea how much personal strife the development team has had to deal with.
I am not saying people can't be disappointed, but just show a little more understanding. We have no idea how they or anyone else is dealing with the current situation. And it's wrong for us to just give a generic catch-all response that we feel would solve everything. We weren't promised anything, and in the grand scheme of things the devs have been as upfront with us as possible and delivered a lot to us. So for something like this I'd say cut them some slack and save the true ire for when it's needed; like unfair glamours or the housing debacle. Which when you think about it are like the only "major" things we have. I mean the game is well balanced, and they try to keep it that way.
Oh and for those saying they already have the Halloween assets that they could just flip on. While I wont claim to know how it would work from a technical standpoint; how long does it take the average person to put up regular decorations? Just because something or someone is using a computer doesn't mean the process is 100% easier/faster. It's just another means to an end.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
I was really expecting the noctis car to be brought back because i thought that is what i read on another forum, but yeah nothing was even added and pretty underwhelming.
i resubbed just for the october event too. will be gone all of november and hope the christmas event makes up for this.
I can totally understand that covid19 has undoubtedly had impacts on the FFXIV team and was bummed to see All Saints Wake not making an appearance, but think this is entirely understandable.
Make It Rain does feel disappointing though. I don't remember how last events were, but it's a little disheartening to a) see that the emotes etc that have been there for a while receive no discount and b) see items that could have been recycled (if only to make up to lack of content) make it to the cash shop.
I do realise there's precedence for point B because pretty much all seasonal items make it to the cash shop, but it just feels especially :/ to me given there's not really anythign to make up for what we're missing this year, at least as far as halloween items go. We sure can get the option to pay more money, though...
