Finally someone who understand. Thank you.I have a house, I put effort in too.
You are defending waiting up to 24 hours in a video game doing nothing but sitting by a sign, with the potential of someone else coming in at the 23rd hour and getting a lucky click.
Sorry but there’s literally nothing special about doing that. You achieve nothing. If anything I actually felt a bit ‘is this my life’ about doing that.
Doing something completely unfun for 24 hours while putting yourself at the mercy of RNG if you go to the bathroom isn’t working for anything. It’s just putting up with tedium more than others are willing to.
It’s a bad system because most everyone doesn’t enjoy that time in a game which is supposed to be fun, not a job.
I initially supported the timer system as I naively thought it would help combat plot flippers. However, time has shown this is not the case. The timer didn't stop flippers. It just changed who got the house initially and who bought it. It just gets sold as FCs or to relocators now.
The system does nothing but punish legitimate players who actually put in the effort to sit at the placard for hours on end, not knowing if they will lose the plot just by going to the bathroom or getting up to eat. And while no house is more important than your health, good luck getting one if you actually attend to your needs - taking time away to rest your eyes, stretch, go for a walk, is time that you could potentially lose the plot you just spent 10 hours camping. As a result you are stuck dealing with elbow, finger, and wrist pain from clicking over and over. Those who run bots to auto click are more likely to get the plot than a real person.
I knew they weren't adding many houses this time around so I was prepared for this eventuality. However, I think the timer is the most egregious thing this game has ever done. When I tell people who don't play about what you have to do to get a house in this game, they are shocked. They can't fathom why any company would do this to its players, and continue to leave it in when time has shown it does not do what it was intended to.
At this point, remove the timer. If people buy houses to resell, so be it. They're doing that anyways. I know of several people who banded together in groups and made shell FCs to grab as many plots to resell to relocators/FCs as possible, at insanely marked up prices. Just stop punishing real players.
You get something handed to you, because you happen to be in the right place at the right time and you earned it, but all the people who have been trying for years don't put in any effort? Unless you can prove you put in more effort than anyone and everyone who doesn't have a house you don't have a leg to stand on.

I'm adding my frustration to this also. I never post here, I'm usually more than content with this games features but enough is enough...
NOBODY CARES ABOUT PUBLIC HOUSING!
If this have cannot handle is terrible spaghetti code enough to have more than just 41 instances of the same zone... Just make it instanced, or allow people to upgrade adjustments with bigger spaces and actual patios and windows and use of outdoor furniture.
Better yet redo the whole thing 1.0 style because it's trash.
The absolute state of FFXIV housing is that you can dredge up a 3 year old thread and it's still relevant.
World might burn. Heaven might fall. Candy abides.
There is something very wrong with the content if you can be denied access due to needing to do a completely normal bodily function like going to the toilet.
And please no one compare this to missing a duty finder queue pop due to being afk in the bathroom. You can queue again when you get back and you'll have the queue pop again usually within a half hour. Absolutely not comparable to spamming a placard for several hours, or waiting several weeks to even get the chance to spam click.
The forums are a depressing sight. I knew a huge amount of threads like this would happen but it's still not nice to see : /
Although I have seen that unlike the last time the forums were flooded with threads like this SE are being very vigilant about moving them from general to the housing forums. Hrmmm.
I would have liked to see them quest based. Do a seriously long and hard quest series to get the small house, for private, and even worse quest line for an FC house. Only 2 sizes, private and FC.
You want to be able to buy a house, clear an ultimate. You want medium, clear 2 ultimates. You want to buy a large? Must have cleared all 3 ultimates. This is after all, called the Housing Ultimate.
Instanced housing is the answer. Also, being able to use the same house on multiple characters on one server.
The best one I've seen is SWTOR and ESO. You can have multiple houses on your "legacy" for all your characters on the same server to share. If you only need one house for storage and some privacy, get one and be happy. If you need a different house for every character for RP reasons, go for it and be happy again.
Having neighbors can be a nice experience, but in no way it beats having actually working system with little to no flaws.

This one so much. My FC mate was trying to just get a plot that was up all weekend before the rush, and it eventually got sold while everyone was offline/couldnt wait for days/week for it to be available. Patch happens, we did get a small house, but due to the server congestion at log in. All larges were gone within minutes Personally I see nothing wrong with instance housing for individuals or FC or both. If I had my pick though, id go for FC instances due to several factors: theres more for an FC riding on whether they have a house or not, it means doing airships or not at all. Or creating actions that are FC specific with the wheel or not at all. Honestly its those two things, plus FC houses allow the members to at least get a room they can decorate, if they dont have millions for a house or an apartment. Still on the camp for instance housing in general, the whole neighborhood feel loses its luster for me over what benefits and instance could proovide if SE looked at it seriously and took ideas from other games(like gathering nodes in back yard, etc)I initially supported the timer system as I naively thought it would help combat plot flippers. However, time has shown this is not the case. The timer didn't stop flippers. It just changed who got the house initially and who bought it. It just gets sold as FCs or to relocators now.
