I can't even come up with words to express how...just...jesus christ.Wrong. I left for 2 minutes for a break and the house got taken. You can't even take a break! It's disgusting what SE do to us. Rng timer needs to go now!! Covid has been here for long enough! People can go onlibe to keep their houses no excuses! This is so unhealthy! Bring back auto demo and remove timer!!!

I know this is a frustrating, terrible experience for a lot of people.. but there's no reason to attack each other so much :P It's not very likely that the devs implemented hidden timers to combat RMT ONLY because of one suggestion by an English-speaking player.
Yes, people have been waiting YEARS and that's terrible, but if Ishgard housing arrives next xpac, that'll be 24 (or more!) new wards instead of the 12 we got this patch. I know that's not enough, but I think this "we're optimizing and beefing up the servers" thing is also a sign of hope. FFXIV seems to be more successful than ever right now, so I think Yoshi-P can convince SE to invest in the technology needed to at least double the number of wards, and add Ishgard on top of that.
I think the neighborhood system is really cool and unique, the problem is just the scarcity (and, relatedly, the flippers, RMTers, and multiple-plot-owners).
If they manage to at least double the # of plots - yes still not everyone will get a Large - but at least everyone who actually cares about housing and wants to enjoy it can find something really cool. Plus it would be amazing for the player economy. They're not going to scrap everything they've done so far and do a whole new instance-only system, so this is a solution that can do some good and Yoshi-P seems to be working towards this!

No one is entitled to a medium or large, not even a FC. People need learn this. They are limited for a reason.
My suggestion is bring back OG pricing and demand will go down, it could in theory introduce RMT but who is so stupid to spend money on virtual money for a house? I'd be shocked to know.

Many of the same people who spend real money to play a game. There are plenty of people willing to pay real money to get what they want if they can't get it through other means (and sometimes even if they can because it's less effort).

That's kinda why FFXIV needs some actual gil sinks that aren't player housing. There's enough players at gil cap that they need something (anything) to do with the gil that isn't housing.
That wouldn't really solve the problem, and may open SE up to legal issues because they would be selling something they can't promise - let alone people abusing the system to keep a house in RMT purchase in a state where it can't be bought ingame for an extended period of time because they are trying to buy it with RMT.The same people who buy gil? Maybe letting the players buy houses via RMT wouldn't be the stupidest. SE would earn money, and more importantly, the bottom would fall out of the gil market, reducing bots on a large scale, and bring some sense back into the market board.
IMO if SE wants to allow us to effectively buy gil, then they should introduce the subscription widget (like what EVE and WoW has) so we can use our gil on sub time.... in addition to other gil sinks that should also be added.

For real, at this point throwing housing in the cash shop would be better than the system they have now. At least maybe Large and XL housing. People will pay 35 bucks for a mount, im certain theyd pay whatever for a house, even if they become account locked and limitedThe same people who buy gil? Definitely would need to be account locked, but if it is purchasable I'd prefer they be unlimited. I'm not sure about recurring payments for it, or 1 time charge would be best.. Certainly in the eyes of business masters, "recurring payments" would be needed.. but if you handled it like retainers, and just charged a nominal fee per month that'd be pretty good idea, just don't be like 20$ or more a month. If it were a 1 time fee I could see something like 40 bucks for a big one. Housing is something I like, but I'm not gonna spend a whole bunch on it. Even a medium house handled in the optional services manner could be like $5 a month, just let everybody on the service account use it, or data center at least. How they'd go about making it? Not sure. Could look through all the various suggestions about an instanced housing system.
Can we stop encouraging SE to, microtransaction us even further in game which we buy to play and pay subscriptions for?
inb4 "Optional Content."
SE could improve upon apartments so that they are upgradeable for gil to condos/penthouses with balconies for gardening and workshop access to reduce demand on ward housing. That seems the most feasible improvement.
100% agree with this.
This tho is a little off from what I think would be best. But my suggestion might be the one that may be worse than this. I think an instanced housing system that provides for upgradability would suit the needs of the majority of players, and probably be the best solution going forward if the game grows an even larger player base. Cost wise, well, that's something else. We hear things like "spaghetti code" and all that kind of reasoning, but in the end it is money and time and talent that rightly steers the course of civilization! And in this forum of creeping mendacity, this one truth with prove it's salv.. the heck am I saying? If they manage to at least double the # of plots - yes still not everyone will get a Large - but at least everyone who actually cares about housing and wants to enjoy it can find something really cool.
